I agree, and especially since wifi is present on most mid range [and above] handsets, I see no reason not to implement this.
However, lets not take away any credit from Vodafone, they are the only network offering this and it is a step forward/in the right direction.
As it is IP based, perhaps some clever person will hack the sw in the unit and then write a suitable app for wifi phones.
