I think performance wise she wins over the other two but think Suzanne was a better skater

Oh yes I'm not saying that. Against the others tonight she was by far and above the best. I'm simply saying she still needs to improve technically to match previous people. Cis basically she's having to do what Ray did last year, compete with herself (although the public vote in the final might undo her). She needs to keep challenging herself and she isnt quite up to Suzanne and Clare technically so she can improve here. My point re the jump was that she was given content last week, the jump, that she clearly struggled with, so my doubts as to her strength regards skating isnt purely because she hasnt been given stuff...

Yes Suzanne probably pips Clare as well as Hayley (though Clare has been training like mad and Suzanne hasnt so Clare would probs pip her now). It is interesting though that things seem to have been approached differently and i wonder if it's contributed. I think in the early stages of doi Suzanne focused hugely on the skating. She got critcised for that by some of the judges and was actually told to up to the performance and that because she is a performer that should be the main focus (i think Ruthie said this). I remember Karen Barber turned around and said no that suzannes feet should be more important than her face and that as she was a performer she could bring that in later when the skating was right. So they focused on her skating ability and then she brought in her performance skills. Clare seemed to operate the same. Hayley seems to have been the other way around... She now needs to bring up her skating to her level of performance.

it's really hard to see her being beaten after tonight. This year showed promise of a competition but nobodies really stepped up. The boys left are all about the same standard and Daniella has been in the skateoff twice. Only person I can see beating her maybe on popularity is Keiron but he has been in the skateoff once.

I completely agree. Previous 30's have been so much better than this - there was so little skating and it was too slow.

But it doesn't have to be fast to be good. As Jayne said previously, slow routines can be much harder as they require a lot more balance and it can be very difficult to execute slow moves without making slight errors. Her performance was captivating though. I do agree that her performance skills are better than her skating skills. Hopefully she can sharpen her skating skills. She is a good skater but it's not matching her performances.

I think she'll probably win now. Kieron probably isn't quite there to beat her, but definitely deserves to be in the final, and doing the Bolero.

For me, it wasn't quite a 6.0 performance, but it was very very good indeed.

I think most people seem to be in agreement over that. Its a real shame we dont have a really great skater this year that has decent performer skills. Gary showed promise at the start and he is still probably the best skater but his performance skills have been a big let down for me, from an actor as well...
Would have loved a good battle, another clare v kyran or chris v suzanne. We havent had a decent fight for the title in a while.I think this might be why the ratings this year are so low in comparison.

I don't watch the show but after I heard that she got 30 I excitedly found the vid on youtube but throughout the routine, I was waiting for her to pick up the speed. The best 'dancers on ice' can do all the dance moves and skate fast.

Fast, flowing skating is one of the requirements of a good dance in professional ice dancing. I couldn't believe Robin gave them a 6.

If you really though DOI comparable to professional ice dancing no wonder you're disappointed.

It was a brilliant routine from Hayley, and I think there would have been complaints had she not got 6s.

This is the second week that she's added her own extra bits to the choreography. Do they take that into account when marking - showing initiative?
I'm glad she managed the 4 spins, but it could have gone wrong, and then she'd have been marked down; even criticised for showing off.

I don't. I just agree with these professional judges who think that this kind of skating is better to watch.

IMO Hayley is amteurish compared to Ray and Susanne.

I'm shocked that I'm in the minority who think she shouldn't have got all 6's (maybe only one 6 from Jason for the dancing aspect) . I'd like to see the opinions of people who haven't watched this series but have seen previous series but I doubt there are many here. I think everyones too caught up in this series and need to watch previous 30 performances again to compare.

I haven't watched it yet, but from this thread it sounds like she was sickeningly over-marked.

Hayley was absolutely fantastic tonight. She really deserved those 6.0's.

What extra bits did she add some other week, and who says she added them?

Those who have watched previous but not the current series are hardly in a position to judge.

I have watched all series - and as stated earlier I'd be very surprised if anyone, ever, emulates Ray Quinn.

I was a fan of both Suzanne and Claire - but unless we see them skating in competition with Hayley it is difficult, nigh impossible, to make a fair comparison: a bit like asking whether George Best was as good as Stanley Matthews; was Bobby Moore as good as, or better than, David Beckham?

I`d wait until you`ve watched it before deciding

Personally I don`t think she was `sickeningly` over-marked at all.

Don't know where you got that impression from

The vast majority of posters on this thread (and on other threads out there) acknowledge how brilliantly Hayley performed tonight and how deserving she was of full marks - even if they aren't fans of hers.

Rather gracious I thought.

It's nice that people can be objective.

I am commenting on what's been said in this thread, which imo makes it seem she was sickeningly over-marked.

I don't think there actually is any problem with comparing routines from different series. What would the problem be?

It's not like football where you're interacting with the competition, and the time difference isn't as great as Moore vs Beckham either.

Anyway, people saying she's better than those in other years is part of why it seems she was over-marked.
