I think you have to take statements from Hayley fans, such as it being the best routine ever ever ever etc and that she was the only one to do it right, with a pinch of salt. Most people here have.

Ray played Ice Hockey....which means.....he probably skated

Shouldn't the spin have been in time with Daniel?

I think Veri realizes he/she is fighting a completely lost battle....but who can blame her since she HASN'T EVEN WATCHED THE SHOW YET

No Chris fountain played Ice hockey... He also did ballet. I would like to add to this that I'm not a Ray fan. I think Ray is better but personality wise I much prefer Chris...

I've read that on here but seen Kyran say the exact opposite.

No he didn't - was that not Chris Fountain, or Kyran Bracken? (Sure it was one of them) Ray did roller blade which would certainly have helped with balance and speed

Check your facts - both Chris Fountain and David Seaman played ice hockey.

Greg Rusedski also skated (not surprising as he is originally Canadia) - but basic skating did not make up for a complete lack of rhythm and performance skills.

A standing ovation from all the judges.

Greg skated as a child in Canada yeah, along with the majority of the population of id imagine.

The other pros didn't spin - so why different expectations of Hayley and Dan?

Yeah, to be honest though i wouldnt read hugely into that. I think they were thinking thank god we have something this series. It needed a bit of ommmphhh desperately. ITV desperately want this series to out do the last one.

A bit late into this conversation...but I thought Hayley was incredible tonight. What a performance! Skated well, very well done on the spin and sharp choreography. 30 well deserved!

You obviously mean Kyran Bracken. LOL at the thought of Kieron R playing rugby

I think that rumour about Kyran was just that though. I don't think Saracens or England would have been too happy with him ice skating. Pro sportspeople usually have insurance that forbids them from doing any 'dangerous' sports.

Personality is important to me on these shows so I don't support Hayley but her routine was AMAZING and deserved the 30.

That'll be a no then will it?

I was only asking I wasn't paying that much attention, it just looked odd with them spinning at differnet times.

The required element was a solo spin not a shadow spin so there was no requirement for Hayley and Dan to be in time with each other as such. And in fact the judges have been lenient on such a thing in the past even when it's been a shadow spin .

Sorry - you're right of course.

Though Kieron R might have made a good high jumper.

But all have also said that that isnt the standard she's judged against as well, she's judged against others on the night, she isnt up against Suzanne and Ray (unfortunately cos that would be interesting). Other than that people have just been making general comments that although she's great at performance and quite a good skater saying she's the best ever is premature with regards against ray and against Suzanne and Clare. Because although Hayley is a good skater Suzanne and Clare at this point were stronger and that Hayley needs to progress here more in the future and that her performance is alot stronger than her skating. People have also pointed out though that all the girls are different and all deserve to stand alone and it's impossible and somewhat unfair to compare them and people should just love music and jai ho as they are. I think thats been it really? All very civilised and people giving constructive criticism.”

That's been my line anyway;
Hayleys routine? I thought it was very good
Deserved 30 on the night against who she was against? yeah probably, she isnt against much and they gave gary a 5
Was it the best routine ever (as some people said so i responded)? In my opinion no, i thought other routines that have got 30 have been better.
Does this make a difference? nope cos she isnt against suzanne and ray.
Is Hayley the best ever? I personally think Ray's better
Is she the best girl? in performance probably but she's not a skater like suzanne and clare, she still wont be by the end either, at least technically (i feel this is adequately illustrated by the jump and her use of edges, that she's quite a good bit behind them in skating at this point)
Does this make a difference? Nope she's not competing with them. If you want to give best ever titles then Suzanne will simply remain the best girl skater, hayley will take the title of best performer. Clare will also be a better skater. They're all different and arent actually competiting with each other anyway. Hayley being a better performer doesnt affect suzannes title, nor will suzanne being a better skater damage hayleys chances...
Again as mentioned comparision to other routines and contestants only came up when I was responding (hopefully politely) to others.

Let's face it....everything else they did was absolutely in sync with one another, not a step went wrong...and if you criticize anything about that exceptional performance then you are nit picking at the nits on the nits on the nits.

I've just taken the time to bring up the first post of EVERY SINGLE POSTER IN THIS THREAD. All 30something of them.

25 people (people, not posts) stated that they thought her 30 was 100% deserved, that it was brilliant, and some said the best ever. Many of those people said that they didn't even like her before but it turned them into fans.

3 people stated that it wasn't quite worth 30 in their eyes, but in context compared to the rest of the skaters it was, or that it was slightly overmarked but not enough to really complain about.

2 poeple stated that it was massively overmarked. Two.

How you can get "sickeningly overmarked" from that without even seeing it is beyond me. What I'm reading from "sickeningly overmarked" is "sickeningly overappreciated by everyone, am I the only one left who hates her?"”

Over-marking is a form of over-appreciation.

I don't hate her, and I've said good things about her routine last week.

But all the gushing about tonight's routine ... looks like a classic case of over-prise and over-marking to me. Did the judges really give her a standing ovation?
