I always believed Leona Lewis - Happy should've made no.1, it peaked at 2, but it would've helped her album promotion some more imo.
Oh and I agree with Tfan about Tiny Tempah, where did he come from? |

Definitely the Spice Girls with Stop!
But if we're talking about more current songs, then in my personal opinion: Rihanna - Russian Roulette Girls Aloud - Call The Shots/Biology Little Boots - Earthquake Sugababes - Denial/Stronger The Saturdays - Up Leona Lewis - Better In Time/Forgive Me Beyonce - Irreplaceable |

Some songs that peaked at no.2 to rubbish number 1's
Rihanna: Rude Boy (beaten by Tinie Tempah - Pass Out) Russian Roulette (beaten by Peter Kay - CIN Medley, bleugh) Pon De Replay (beaten by Oasis - The Importance Of Being Idle) SOS (beaten by Gnarls "bleugh" Barkley - Crazy - one of the worst songs ever imo) Unfaithful (beaten by ARGHHH McFly - Don't Stop Me Now (murdering a Queen classic) La Roux - In For The Kill (it was number two for weeks) The Saturdays - Just Can't Get Enough (beaten by Flo Rida - RIght Round) Jay-Z ft. Alicia Keys - Empre State Of Mind Part (beaten by Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart) I can't add: Taylor Swift - Love Story (beaten by kelly Clarkson - My Life Would Suck Without You) Leona - Happy (beaten by BEP - Meet Me Halfway) Noisettes - Don't Upset The Rhythm (Beaten by Lady Gaga - Pokerface) The Saturdays - Forever Is Over (beaten by Chipmunk - Oopsy Daisy) Sugababes - Get Sexy (beaten by Jay-Z - Run This Town) because although they should have been a chart toppers, the songs that beat them were great too, and Pokerface is better than DUTR |

Rihanna has been unlucky getting like about 4 or 5 no.2 singles. If she had got to No.1 with them all she could probably release a No.1's album after doing maybe one more album.

I'm pretty sure Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl never got to number one. It was beaten to the top spot by the Pet Shop Boys with "Always on My Mind". ![]() Quote:

Queen... not all of their singles, but these ones for sure (some were no.1s outside the UK though):
Killer Queen Don't Stop Me Now I Want To Break Free A Kind Of Magic We Will Rock You (the original) Plus a few more. Seems odd that so many of their great songs just missed out on no.1 spots, yet Bohemian Rhapsody gets there twice .
