Do they think Jason's the star of the show?

After his obnoxiousness earlier in the series, it seemed they might rein him in, but that clearly hasn't happened.

Instead, all he has to do is give an insultingly low mark and belittle what someone's done in an irritating fashion (it's week 9, it's week 9, it's week 9, you're dull), and he gets lots of screen time.

His attention-grabbing tactics are obvious. Give a low mark to they go to him to explain it (and so that when he gives a high mark, they go to him to explain that), be nasty enough to get the crowd booing, perhaps argue with another judge.

But the show indulges him in all of that.

Funnily enough, I rarely find myself disagreeing with Jason's actual scores.

And a lot of his feedback is spot on. It's when he becomes personal and bitchy that I take umbrage.

I also feel Holly goes to Jason too often. I'd rather hear from the skaters on the panel.

You thought Gary deserved a 3.0?

When his feedback is spot on, it's usually about relatively unimportant things. He is easily the least genuinely constructive and helpful of the judges, and probably the most biased and the most influenced by personal factors. He should be sacked, but unfortunately, they seem to think that having someone "controversial" is good for the show.

I think he thinks he's the star of the show. I think Karen remark last night to listen to the skaters irritated Jason. It was after that remark that he kept repeating his comment that Gary's routines were dull. Jason cant skate and it must irritate him for someone to point out that they might know more than him.

I thought on yesterday's show he was pretty much spot on, most of the time (with the exception of with Danny, and possibly his vote in the skate-off). Sometimes he is totally unnecessarily rude, but other times, he's just telling the truth. Gary's performances are really dull and unconvincing; Nicky's mark for him was crazily high, and it needed someone to be honest and actually point that out.

A lot of the time he is right-not the rudeness though. Besides shows like this need a bad guy-probs would be boring without him lol!

Yes, I did.

Whilst he might be the strongest skater, he's the weakest performer in my eyes and that was illustrated in the vast difference between Nicky and Jason's scores.

I thought 3.0 was about right for Gary too. No performance skills whatsoever. I don't actually think he's the strongest skater either, for what it's worth.

I don't think Jason was personally rude to him really - he stuck to his performance on the ice, which is how it should be.

I really try and not get too wound up about him as that's just playing into the programme maker's hands. But he has plummeted to new depths of bad taste this year by insulting all the hard working celeberities who really don't deserve this abuse!

I've also read a lot on these forum threads regarding his general behaviour towards all and sundry and have come to the conclusion he's a comlete waste of space who has been lead over the years to believe his opinion on DOI is indispensable.

I saw him as a judge on a tour a few years ago, the crowd was naturally wound up to boo him but he behaved reasonably well. He now seems to be characterture of himself always trying to live up to some bad-boy image. What he seems to forget is the real bad-boys are successful as they have some redeeming characteristics, sorry Justin you have none!

Giving a mark that's too low is not the way to do it.

Jason's lack of respect for the other judges is becoming as obvious as his lack of respect for many of the celebs. I find it hard to believe a show like this really needs an unqualified, obnoxious, irritant like him.

But if it was Kieron he started shouting at, undermarking & insulting, you would be screaming fix because Kieron's not on the tour & clearly doesn't mean as much to the producers.

Of course Gary was undermarked. A 3.0 is what Colleen & Dr. Hilary got. His skating is EXCEPTIONAL and the best out of the boys at very least. Stupid behaviour, banging on the desk, too but I'm sure it got Gary some sympathy votes so I don't mind too much.

LY DULL?

As long as he sticks to criticising the skating and performance, I don't have a problem with his comments at all. The whole reason that his criticism of Sharron, Kieron and Danny was condemned was because it was about their appearance and body shape, not their skating.

Gary still got a high mark from the panel, so I don't know what you're getting so upset about!

He's a weapon's grade attention seeker. I had little respect for him before this years series started and I have zero respect left for him after his rude, childish comments this year - have a straight-talking judge on the panel by all means, but at least have one that will balance out his pithy comments with a proper critique of the performance rather than attempting to turn the show into a vehicle for his own brand of 'wit'.

The writer of this doesn't seem to like Jason much and IMO has got it completely right:

Jason doesn't have the charisma of a Simon Cowell to back up his put downs so he just comes across as an idiot when he starts making personal comments.

I think Jason's wittier than Simon Cowell, but I don't think anyone think he's the star of the show. I think producers look to him sometimes to liven up a dull evening and I think they like the 'scandal' he brings.

The photograph really doesn't do him any favours. Strike a pose, Jason by all means. Perhaps not that one though

Is he trying to get his own back for her remarks to him ?

`Jason laughed: "That little minx! Her husband's a coach on the show. I'd heard talk but I couldn't say either way.

"All I know is that she is very much there for Torvill and Dean, probably above and beyond what you'd consider normal.

"Maybe she is just in awe of them.

"If it's true, the implications are unbelievable. But the skating world is very bizarre."

Can`t believe how immature he is

Jason earns a larger salary than other judges because he garners ratings for the show. I think he's less the star than he thinks he is, and more the production team's pawn - 'ooh, let's see how far Jason can push things, a bit of controversy will have people tuning in in droves'.

The danger of being known for controversy is that of course you have to keep pushing yourself ever further to remain controversial. Jason's been very near the knuckle a few times this series, and I suspect eventually he will do or say something so outrageous that they simply won't be able to keep him on.

I also thought that T&D needed to realise Jason was tarnishing their 'brand' by association with DOI, but couldn't for the life of me think how to show them that. Perhaps Jason's pathetic remarks on Chris's divorce will put a new light on things...

Ted Robbins ( Emily Atack's ) uncle has been in show business for many years and he has worked with the "tv villans" Micky Most and Nina Myscow to name but two, they just played the part and were actually nice people behind the scenes, he has also worked with Jason and with him he says....what you see is what you get!!

Ugh... just been looking at Jason's Twitter again (I'm a sucker for punishment)... I seriously wonder if he actually wants to be a DOI judge going off some of the tweets on there. Some of the conversation threads had me

@officialJasonG: Such a glorious Spring day... makes everything so much more bearable when the sun is out. It's put a spring in my step... but for how long?
Someone replied with: enjoy it now, as you have to watch those F-list celebs pissing about on ice later!!
To which he replied LOL thanks for raining on my parade!

Another replied to his original tweet with probably until the first celeb to skate tonight, maybe? hope your well xx
To which he replied Too f**king true!! LOL

Does he begrudge his DOI duties that much? Jason, for what it's worth love, we'd be happy to see the back of you

What a wonderful article - the writer summed it up very nicely when he said "the shallowest part of the stream makes the most noise". I agreed with every scathing word he wrote about that obnoxious man.

From his twittering stuff, he obviously does. Time someone told him that he's getting PAID to be on DOI, and if he doesn't like doing it, then give up the contract and give up the money. Bet he'd change his tune then.

And that of course plays exactly into his and the producers hands and makes him more valuable to them...
