Shame that she didn't stick with Market kitchen though. Penny Smith is terrible, but the new format isn't that great so may be it was a good move

So is Market Kitchen as we knew it over?

I miss Market Kitchen. I haven't been able to watch it since middle of May. Some of it was poor, but there were quite a few laughs as well depending who was hosting on a particular week. I really liked the episodes with Amanda.

So do you know if this Street Market Chefs is permanent then? According to TV Guide there are only 10 episodes.

The new series is a different format. It isn't great. Just a rehashing of Hairy Bikers tour or Britain and Rick Stein Food Heroes. Even UKTV Food have had similar programs in the past.

It's just more jumping on the band wagon with the local food movement.

Penny Smith is terrible as the co-host, but it may also be the format in general that is the problem.

I think it's just another series for Five. Not a major daily thing like Market Kitchen.

Nigel Slater's new show starts tonight on BBC1 (& HD) at 8:30pm.

Before that is a new series of Jimmy's Food Factory. I guess it is a food program

Thanks for that degsyhufc!

On another note, I wasn't able to catch the Masterchef final last night and was going to catch up today. What happens? - this morning the BBC Breakfast show just blurted out who won Masterchef without any warning at all. Neeless to say I was not a happy bunny.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations is starting back up again tonight on Good Food. For some reason they only showed half of the episodes a couple of months back. They did the same with Man v Food

Just read this about Bourdain No Resevations

Quote:
“
Season 4

As with Season 3, Season 4 was aired in two parts: nine episodes in the winter of 2008, and ten in the summer of 2008. Various sources have referred to the summer episodes as Season 5, but in a post on his blog regarding the September 1, 2008 episode, Bourdain refers to it as the final episode of Season 4.[2] One special episode followed the regular 2008 episodes.
”

So maybe UKTV/Good Food bought it in the two packages and that's why they had the gap.

Countrywise Kitchen8pm on ITV1 London

Also on ITV1 HD

30 mins. Starts in 27 mins

New series. Paul Heiney and the team are joined by chef Mike Robinson to seek out top British seasonal recipes from beautiful locations around the UK. Today they are in Cumbria.

I like Mike Robinson as a chef. Enjoyed his programs in the past. I am getting a bit sick of all the local producers/food hero/uk tour type food programs though.

There’s a new thing – Cookery School on C4. I’m watching it on +1. It seems interesting. Novices are trained up by Richard Corrigan and Gizzi Erskine.

Thanks Gemo. I caught it by accident. I don't recall it being advertised on C4 which is odd. So far the soups look lovely. I've checked and the recipes are up on the C4 webite.

Watching this again(because there's nowt else on).
Heard a funny thing.
The students who impress will last longer at the school.

Surely the ones who aren't as good should get to stay longer to get more help & training?

I’m going to record the programmes and watch them back to back. It clashes with Best House.

Economy Gastronomy, a BBC show from a few years back, is currently showing on Good Food.

Quote:
“Top chefs Allegra McEvedy and Paul Merrett have devised Economy Gastronomy, a system to slash our food bills and eat better than we've ever done before. The Economy Gastronomy system shows every household in Britain how to save time and money and still create amazing, flavour-packed meals on a budget.
