Humax HDR boot problem
I've had a problem when trying to boot when the box is recording. When I try to boot the HDR it shows the channel in the window on the front of the box but the TV screen stays blank. I've tried turning the unit off and re-booting, switching between hdmi connections etc. It comes to life eventually after several attempts. This has happened on three or four occasions now, has anyone else experienced this?

It's failing to establish hdmi hdcp handshake. Humax will say it's a compatibility problem with your TV. You don't say what make a nd model the TV is but it might be worth checking with the makers to see if there is a firmware update available.

It's a Panasonic tv (can't remember the serial number, I'm at work at the mo!), this only seems to have become an issue since the last update. When I try to boot the HDR instead of 'boot' showing in the window it goes staight to the channel display but nothing appears on the TV screen even when the correct hdmi channel is selected manually (the auto select works if the TV channel is on, changing to hdmi 1, but the screen remains blank).
I initially thought that it was because a recording had just started (bringing the box partially to life) and I was trying to boot at about the same time confusing things but I'm not so sure now. |

This sometimes happens to me too (Panasonic too)
Depending on which remote I have handy, I either change to a different input on the TV, and then back to the HDMI, and it usually springs to life, or cycle through the modes on the HDR - from 1080i to original to (maybe 576i), 576p, 720p, and back to 1080i. I think this forces a re-handshake, which may bring it back. |

Yeah that's the sort of process i have to go through, It's a pain because sometimes it might take 5 minutes or so to get it going. If it was the handshake then why would the auto switching to the correct hdmi channel work, but the screen be blank?

Not that it's much help, but I have this problem too, also with a Panasonic (Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10 , I think). At least it's nice to know it's not anything I've done.
Given that 3 out of 3 of us have Panasonic's, it may well be their fault..... |

Wanted to add this as an edit, but apparently I'm not allowed to:
Just searched the forum about this and discovered lots of posts, including makes other than panasonic. Various suggestions to do with which order you switch things on / change inputs etc, so I'll try to find a procedure that works for me. Nicer if it didn't happen at all, but hey...... |

This is definately an issue caused by the last upgrade, the problem never happened before that but happens everytime the box is recording and i try to boot
