Why do the DOI pros get so little recognition?
Like the title says, who do the DOI pros get so little recognition? They barely get named, they may as well just be called "Keiron's partner" or "Hayley's partner". I was watching some old youtube videos of Kyran Bracken and Melanie Lambert and there are some jokey undertones about it but, also, some outright attempts to drag Mel in the spotlight. Watching it was kind-of uncomfortable because it's true, the pros get no recognition and they do a lot of hard work.

Yes! And when they do the pro routines with Torvill & Dean, at the end the camera doesn't pan across them individually. Small detail but I think it should.
Oh & when Philip announces the winner he always just says "Ray Quinn!" or "Suzanne Shaw!". No mention of the pro that helped get them there. |

A lot of people only watch DOI because they are fans of the Pro skaters and its about time that they got the recognition they deserve. The Pro dancers on SCD are treated like super stars in comparison!

It's about time that ITV wised up to the fact that the pros have their own fanbases.
It was understandable when the show first started that the focus was on Torvill & Dean but not now. I think that all the best opening routines this year have featured the pros as well as opposed to just Jayne & Chris. I will probably get burnt at the stake for saying this but on the tour this year I am looking forward to the pro routines more than the Torvill & Dean ones. This from someone who has loved them since I was a young girl. |

I agree that they should get some more recognition for their hard work, but there is a big difference in the amount of input they have compared to the Strictly pros.
On Strictly, the pros do all the teaching and the choreography, DoI doesn't require the pros to do that. The choreography is done by T&D and the other coaches and the teaching is done by the coaches. I know some people have suggested that the pros should do the choreography, but the way DoI works is much more in line with normal skating pairs, they have their choreography done for them by specialists and the pros may well not be experienced at developing their own routines. |

Tiger rose I also prefer the pro routine lol! They tend to be more exciting and creative, cos T&D although still brilliant are getting old.
The celebs in fairness get annoyed over the lack of recognition given to the pros. Some of them therefore go out of their way to involve their pro and promote the show with them and mention them in media etc. Gareth, Kyran, Duncan, Suzanne and now Hayley (though she is using it as more of a ploy to me and I dont know why she does this because she doesnt need to) all stand out for me in heavily involving their pro and pushing for more recognition to be given to them. As said by Laur_ad above Suzanne and Kyran both said in the aftermath of their victory that their names being announced was wrong. Also to be honest I think the strictly pros private lives and reported affairs with each other and contestants has helped a bit in raising their profiles. The DOI pros tend to be far more private. |

I second all this. The pros do just as much as the celebs and Jayne and Chris for the show, and are all so gorgeous to watch as well.
