Maybe because some posters prefer men? Mikey went last week so his vote on here has probably gone to Kieron or Gary.

That is so silly. It's nothing to do with his sex.

No it isn't. Many people vote for who they 'fancy'.

It takes more than fancyibg someone to support them. And so much support? Kieron is not that physically attractive to everyone who supports him.

Basically, he's more popular than Hayley (and everyone else) because people might find him more likeable, they like the improvement factor, he's unassuming...

I won't continue as Eejit might just have a heart attack.

Well I've seen post saying they find Kieron attractive.

That's fine but it certainly isn't the lone reason for his popularity.

If it was all about looks Gary would have the thing won easily

I think Kieron has visibly struggled more than Hayley, he didn't take to the ice straight away like she did - so he's had more of a (sorry!) 'journey', and people can relate to that. In my opinion, Hayley is the better skater, but both are great to watch, for different reasons - I would be happy for either of them to win. But I certainly don't want 'anyone but Hayley'! Hayley fans may have to accept that not everyone likes her, but non-Hayley fans will also have to accept that a lot of us love her, and are a little sensitive about all the knocks she gets on the forums.

I'm with you it's Hayley or Kieron for me now which I never would have thought at the start of the competition.

The guys have the edge for me in this series, at this point, because none of the women are doing enough interesting enough skating.

Unfortunately, none of guys stands out enough from the others, so I'm currently not supporting anyone.

I can see why people are backing Kieron, though.

Ive seen more improvement in Kieron than I have with Hayley

Yes he has had the dreaded journey but I have liked seeing his journey you can see he has improved by miles compared to when he started

Where Hayley doesnt look much different from where she started from, IMO she doesnt look much different from week one

Keiron is what DOI is all about

He gets put down by some of the judges, hes not the 'best looking' or the 'Hunky' bloke, he is the everyman, the weedy bloke put down by the cool gang

Its nice to see him try and improve each week

A lot of viewers will see themselves in him whether they are male or female, they see that with practice they could get to his level and that encourages others to give it a go

good but with flaws
flaws that the average viewer with no experience of the ice can see, but he tries to improve those flaws and we can see him doing that

with Hayley those that dont know what to look for dont know if she is skating on the wrong/ right edge or if one foot has not passed over the other enough all those people see is someone in a perfect pose, excecuting tricks, looking good and making it look all to easy and thats the difference between Hayley and the other celebs

Same here! I never really had a favourite until recently, now it's Hayley or Kieron all the way for me

However I do love Danny, Gary and Daniella aswell, it's just I prefer the other two!

Due to demands for the wow factor the girls will never be given the same opportunity to hone their skating skills as the guys.

This will always lead to claims that the guys have shown more improvement than the girls - but what is the solution?

I know that skating is obviously an important factor in DOI (especially for those who skate themselves and know what they are talking about!) But as the show is called dancing on ice- then surely the dancing and performance is just as important as the skating?? (I wouldn't know what to look for as to see whose the technically best skater tbh)

But from what I see, for me Hayley and kieron seem to be the best performers for me- the ones I most look forward to seeing! This is just my opinion of course!! They havbe the full package from what I can tell- I don't really care if Hayley is the best skater or not tbh!

Haha , nah not at all- I loved the whole of the final 7 tbh- if I was to place any bets, right now I would put my money on Hayley! But I certainly wouldn't rule out Kieron!

Which makes up for the fact the girls have it so easy when it comes to lifts and flying.

It's a good question.

I think it is possible for the girls to show improvement, and of course for guys to fail to, but I agree there is a problem.

I think back to what happened with Suzanne Shaw. In effect, the judges told her and the choreographers that there should be more skating, with less time spent on lifts. Without the judges making that point, I don't think she'd have won.

Or Emily this year didn't get a routine that showed she could skate until -- it seemed -- her partner became annoyed.

The show seems to want big lifts. The choreographers seem to go along with that even if it dooms some of the celebs. So it's down to the judges, if they will, or else the celebs or their partners to insist that their routines have enough skating so that their skating can improve and be seen to improve.

Men can get away with not being able to dance. None of the men left are particularly good dancers, women can't get away with that. Ray's the only male finalist who could really dance.

They don't get away with it at all. Most of them get blasted for it every week.

Not as much as women. I can't think of any female finalist who can't dance, whereas several men couldn't, and given none of the men left can dance will again this year.

I don't think all lifts are necessarily easy - I remember Jason commenting on the lift Claire accomplished skating to Since You've Been Gone. She had to lock her arms and take her own weight:

Note Jason's comments - lifts are not the easy option - though I'm in complete agreement regarding the flying; it should be ditched.

Everything about this post makes complete sense.

I agree with this too - Ray delivered on both counts, but he was an exception.

Even if there was a female equivalent I think the choreography would still be geared to spectacular lifts. As Veri said it took Nicky's low score to elicit some attention to Suzanne's skating ability and Fred's complaint to do the same for Emily.

Sometimes the choreographers (T&D???) don't listen to the judges.....

The panel in series 1 repeatedly picked up Bonnie about the lack of skating in her routines (although they gave her high marks regardless because of the WOW! performances) - she was told week after week that she needed to spnd more time on the ice rather than in lifts - but week after week she came out and did big lift after big lift followed by the headbanger to finish.

The choreo didn't do her any favours - but having actually seen her doing her jump and solo bit without having Matt to hang onto - her weak skating was very obvious - Bambi could have shown her how it was supposed to be done....
