![]() Why would she, unless she had a specific reason to, or interest in ice skating? Daniel's been doing DOI, the tour and other things; she was an actress in Emmerdale, and I think released a CD when she left. There probably wan't a lot of time for much else. |

I am getting fed up of her
To start with they gave Dan an unfair advantage. They must have known that Hayley was technically so far ahead when they did the auditions. So based on the fanbase she has with Emmerdale wasn't it basically handing Dan anothe win by pairing them together given his popularity. There are a few partnerships I'd like to quiz the PTB over - but I am throwing my support behind Danny. And let's face it Frankie really deserves to win this. She has worked so hard with him Danny for the win Do they actually audition the celebrities for DOI? I don't think Strictly does that. Anyway, Haley was by no means that much better than some of the others at the start. Daniella was very much on a par with her, but whereas Haley has gone on to improve each week, Daniella has stagnated -- and if anything, she's actually gone backwards. I think Danny is shaping up to be a strong contender for the title -- I just hope the public starts getting behind him and Frankie. I would love to see a Haley-Danny-Keiron final. |

I read today that Paul Burrell was auditioned for one series but his skating ability was so poor he wasn't asked to be in the programme. So, yes - there must be some form of minor audition I'd imagine.

Come on now - many zelebs have made known their desire to take part in SCD or DOI (remember Natalie C on SCD) - do you really think they take lessons on the off chance? And if she took lessons over 3 years surely she would confound her critics with some blinding solo skating.
Guess the ABH (anyone but hayley) bandwagon is gathering pace. ![]() And I've already said I'm not on that bandwagon. Why can't people just accept that others will criticise Hayley without hating her guts? Her fans will be her downfall I guess.

I didn't say lessons for three years straight but Hayley is a determined character. You can bet she's had a good few lessons. She's too skilled not to.

Gary's skating skills are pretty impressive - has he too been training behind closed doors? Why not assume that the playing field is even - then sit back and enjoy each performance, whilst hoping our own particular favourite delivers on the night? |

Hayley's skating isn't the best of the bunch, as the panel have pointed out, but you'd expect it to be if she'd had skating lessons.

No she couldnt skate. I remember reading that when she found out she was doing DOI she got on to suzanne shaw and Suzanne took her skating to try and teach her the very very basics before she started with the coaches. As I've said many times the technical difficulty of her skating is not all that high, it looks better than it is, it certaintly doesnt reflect someone with previous skating. Her performance skills are considerably stronger than her skating ones.

Not sure whats wrong with Daniella. Its largely getting poor routines but there may be an age factor too - there's very good reasons why you have tennis players and athletes who can still compete at 32 but only a very few carry on until they are 36.
I think fatigue and wear and tear on the body has got the better of Daniella to be honest. She looks done in. She's run out of steam. And I don't blame her. She hasn't the stamina to compete with the others anymore. |

I quite liked Danniella's routine this week. I just didn't like the way she carried it out. Her required element, for instance, was the weakest of the group. And she'd lost her usual sparkle when trying to sell her character and the story.

. (I personally think Hayley was fitter and more toned than Emily). I think it depends on your overall fitness and what you have done up to that point. I wonder (and this is not a criticism but a medical point), if Daniella's ealier history has left her in a less fit state than she could be otherwise at 36.

I amm just wondering - given that the ideais for people to learn to skate via dancing or vis a vis wouldn't it be an idea that they place a limit on how lifts are allowed in a performance. Say about 3. We have had Danniella being saved for doing very little skating- basically being lifted around the ice when Mikey did far more solo skating
Maybe this is something that could be raised on the Friday programme - or discussed with Jayne and Chris And secondly it is time other pros were given a chance to shine. Maria, Dan have seemed to corner the market as far as good clebs are concerend - isn't it about time Andrei, Suzy and Fred were given a chance with decent celebs I don,t recollect Mikey doing much skating. He was clearly the least skilled skater and spent most of the time on the ice or wobbling around it. |

I think if Hayley wins it'd be a fair reflection of the series so far. I wouldn't be jumping for joy or anything, but I'm certainly not against the idea.
And her skating isn't so confident that I'd suspect her of previous experience. Plus, to be honest, I wouldn't care even if she had previous experience, as long as she was watchable. |

Definitely not in the "anyone but Hayley" camp - but i am getting visions of Bonnie in series 1 with her. Can do no wrong with the judges and gets high marks week after week.
I don't think she's had much (if any) skating experience before this, but what she does have in spades is oodles of DANCE experience (just like Bonnie) and copes with getting into, holding and getting out of lifts smoothly, and hold poses and shapes as well as being able to give a performance. She turns in a fabulous performance week after week, but a lot of her flashier moves are done standing still or on toepicks allowing that dance experience to come through. I don't think her basic skating is actually as strong as Gary's is - but she sells her routines like he can't! That said - her Jai Ho! routine was absolutely fantastic and she deserved her marks and to be top of the leaderboard. I still think she is given better routines and music than some of the other contestants are though. The choreography she has been given so far allows her to shine and perform more than some of the others can. Hayley was given fast exciting music and a routine based on graceful poses and skating (holding hands with Dan) on her own. Daniella on the other hand was given a slowish piece of music, and a routine which consisted mainly of lifts, but without any "flashy" moves to allow her to shine. Danny was given one which seemed to have him doing nothing but shadow box while Frankie whizzed around him, and Maria disguised a lot of Gary's shortcomings with her performance... Kieron was the only other person who got a really memorable routine to do. Of all of them Gary is the best skater and Hayley is the best performer... Kieron has both elements but to a much lower level than they do. I don't really have a particular favourite who gets me to pick up the phone.. but if Kieron gets to the final he will be the one I do vote for. |

They definately audition people. My friend was skating at Lee Valley in August and she saw several people with Karen Barber. 2 of whom aren't on the show and 1 who is the male sub.
![]() I suspect some of the higher profile people, like Heather Mills, probably go through a quite different process though. With them it will more just be about ensuring they can be reasonably safe on the ice, and will at least be able to perform in some way for the time period. Obviously they want some crap people too - they need a mix. Preferably a mix that will bring in lots of viewers from across all ages. They'll be looking for TV appeal just as much as skating ability. |

Which begs the question, why do people keep insisting she is. She's the best performer certainly. But she isn't the best skater.

I thought the general consensus was that Gary was the superior skater... |
