No !

And I think having an 'anybody but Hayley' attitude is nothing more than complete immaturity....considering the work and effort she puts in to achieve great things.

Absolutely ridiculous....
Well said, the girl can skate and perform.... why do people feel the need to put down people that are doing well at something. I don't think Hayley has over reacted to her 6.0's, neither did Ray Quinn. To put the hours in and challenge yourself week after week of course you're going to be over the moon to get the recognition for it.
No one else there can skate as well as Hayley so why shouldn't she win it. That's what a competition is about surely, who is the best at whatever they're competing at.
Sometimes I think people can have a negative feeling against people who can do something better than anyone else doing it and that's a shame I think.
We don't know the girl so how can we say she's arrogant or cocky or annoying from the 5 minutes we see of her.

There is absolutely no way Danny will win. Hayley will win. And she should. Simple as.

She is the best skater technically, and I always like to see the best all round skater win, unless they're a smug git like Ray Quinn
You do see the irony don't you. I'm not saying Hayley is smug. But Lord above, some of her fans are.

As far as skating skill and prentation Hayley is streets ahead of any other contestant this year...That's a fact and any skater worth a pinch of salt would tell you...........

The best deserves to win........

This attemt to devalue a person with talent who is working her socks off is really quite wrong......

Some of the criticism they are getting (especially Hayley) is unkind and unnecessary. The wish to improve should be applauded, not vilified.
Absolutely. But some of the criticism that some of the criticism is getting (the stuff meant for debate, and not meant to provoke, which I think's what you're referring to) is, frankly, unbelieveable.

The slightest word against Hayley and people are jumping all over the critic with 'how dare you' remarks, even when the criticism is fair and unbiased.

This rabid fandom is actually starting to make me like Hayley less, which is unfair on her and no reflection of the effort she's putting in. I can see why some posters here are moved to make stronger criticisms when their every effort to be fair and equitable is met with a complete lack of reason.

I agree with you-no opinion on Hayley is allowed unless you are wetting your pants with excitment about her. It's very boring and makes me wonder what all the Hayley fans are going to when it's all over? Maybe they could all meet on the Hayley appreciation thread once a week (for comfort) which is where they should all be anyway haha!

It seems to a casual onlooker that the rabid fandom and the irrational dislike just about cancel each other out.

Hayley for the win

I don't care if she wins, I'm enjoying an excellent performer this year whilst the others do still entertaining routines still.

I agree. If you voice a reasonable criticism you get lumped into the "irrational" crowd. I personally can't take to her, but I don't think she is smug or arrogant as some have claimed.

I do think she is overmarked, overpraised and overrated. That is not her fault, it's the fault of the judges and production. Having watched her routine again, apart from when she is in one place doing dance moves, doing a spin from a stationary position or doing the jump up she is either held by Dan or lifted by him. Compare that to the lenghty portion of the routines Danny and Keiron did solo. It's the unfairness from the powers that be that grates more than anything. They are trying to convince people of something that, while it is there, is not as great as they would have us believe.

I agree, I don't understand the negativity towards Hayley on this forum, I can understand some not taking to her but to put her down constantly is just so wrong.
I have spoken to many people outside in the real world and I have not heard one negative word spoken about her, only positive.

But the rabid fandom has only been here since the irrational dislike reared it's ugly head. Why should we not stick up for Hayley when she has now proven she is the best. If she doesn't win, I won't lose any sleep over it but she deserves to win after all her wonderful performances imo.

Hayley to win! Would like Kieron and Gary in the top 3 also.

I wouldn't get behind Danny to win as Frankie puts me off. Not behind Gary to win as don't want Maria to win again, find it unfair that she always gets competent partners (usually good looking ones too ) and just don't get Daniella!

The only reason the fans are becoming rabid is because we're starting to get irritated by the total irrationality of some of the insults against Hayley. If the reasons for dislike of her made sense or were fair and balanced, we wouldn't care, like I didn't care until about three weeks ago.

Some of the comments are so ridiculous. But I'm not surprised, this happens /every/ year with at least one contestant.

Hayley is not my favourite and she's not the best /skater/ in the show. I've said it once and I've said it before, she's the best package in the show and for that reason she deserves to win. Do I personally want her to win? No I don't. Kieron or Danny for me because they have improved so much in recent weeks but that doesn't mean I can't see that the girl is the best all rounder.

So she's apparently desperate. Desperate to what? Win? Then I say be desperate Hayley. Winning isn't a crime.
Exactly. The British do seem regard wanting to win as some sort of crime and to hope that they don't get their wish to win. I think maybe we as a nation have a tendency to confuse the 2 meanings of the word underdog - the first being someone who is expected to struggle or lose at a contest, with the second which is a victim of persecution or injustice.
Whilst I can understand supporting someone who is an underdog in the second sense of the word, it seems a little odd to back someone who is simply an underdog in the first sense just because they are an underdog.

I think, unfortunately, the rabidity has spilled over into the more rational criticism, which is what most of the peeps on this thread seem upset about.

Mind you, what I think is fair, rational and unbiased criticism seems to some people like dire insults, so maybe the 'rational/irrational' debate is irrational in itself.

My head hurts now

I think you're probably right, although why either are necessary seems a little odd to me.

I dont think she is desperate to win (although she knows she will IMO)

But she seems so desperate to please, to look like she is trying so much harder than the others because her jumps and tricks are so much harder than the others (four spins instead of the required two)

Its like ' look at me Im so much better'
she is like a dog waiting for the treat after doing a trick well

As you say she is overmarked and overpraised, if the others stumble they are commented on and their marks are lower when Hayley stumbles a small comment and no reductions in marks

She presents herself well and Dan only enhances her presentation as he has done with past partners but besides her tricks she hasnt done a lot of skating when all is said and done

I just cant take to the cheesy grins and IMO over presentation of their routines
Why cant she just skate without all the bells and whistles of arms legs and facial gurning

Too much sugar can make you sick

Since when has it become a bad thing to want to win the competition you've signed up for? From the way you are putting it, the prize will be a billion pounds for the winner, whereas, there is nothing but the pleasing sensation of knowing your hard work is being rewarded...and Hayley deserves this! She absolutely deserves this...

'too much sugar can make you sick' - now that depends on how sour you are in the first place

It isn't, however "rabid fandom" is.
I'd class rabid fandom as being unable to see any flaws in the favoured one, even if they are there, taking any criticism of them personally and placing far more importance in a TV show than it warrants.
The vast majority of people who support Hayley (or any of the other contestants) don't come into that category, but then most of her critics don't come into the category of "irrational haters" either.

I am not aware of any of Hayley's supporters who think she is flawless. I also think that anyone who votes Hayley as 'their least favourite' are placing far more importance on the show than I do.

I'm sure she thinks as highly of her critics as they do of her. The only difference is that she's seems to have more decorum about her than to portray herself as a complete ar*ehole in expressing nasty, snidey and jealous views in public

Of course she doesn't. That won't help her win, will it.

I am slightly surprised that you seem to be taking my comments as directed at you.
They were general in nature and referred to those at the extreme ends of the hate for/love Hayley (or anyone else for that matter) spectrum.
In my view, either is an inappropriately strong reaction to a TV show which I struggle to understand and therefore I find the response, as I said earlier, odd.
