Switching from Sky and keeping same number!
Tried to cancel SKY account today and they said that I won't be able to keep the number I've had for 20years.
When I swicthed from BT to Sky it was easy enough to transfer number, but it seems the opposite can't be donw and now SKY 'OWN' the number. What can I do? I want to keep the number, but don't want to be stuck with Sky for the rest of my life. Steve |

contact BT on 08001218085 and request a "return to donor"
this should get the number back to BT |

Do you have to do it twice, 21 minutes apart then?

If it's a problem - complain to Ofcom about Sky.
You are allowed to port your number from provider to provider. It sounds to me like a retention tactic hoping to catch you off guard and try to get you to stay to avoid changing the number. Pretty poor tactics really... |
