Shows that although Hayley tops the favourite poll - she also tops the LEAST favourite one by a long way which pulls her down.
The problem with that theory is that people vote for their favourite, not their least favourite and statistically you can't take one vote from the other to prove popularity or otherwise.

No, but when it's between two people in the final, an 'anti' vote might go to the other person in order to stop the person they dislike winning. I don't think it'll be enough to stop Hayley, especially if she keeps on doing well, but it can still have some effect.

Latest stats from the STV poll show a bit of a change:

1. Hayley - 69%
2. Kieron - 12%
3. Gary - 9%
4. Daniella - 5%
5. Danny - 4%

Well obviously. Since it's been posted on here, the Kieron zone. I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

LMAO

I don't think the couple of hundred DS posters are likely to have had much of an impact. Otherwise Daniella definitely wouldn't be dropping back in the vote, that's for sure!

They didn't have MUCH of an impact. Kieron went up by a few percent. I doubt many vote on that poll...

It was okay when Hayley was, and let's face it still is, streets ahead. But now someone else got a few votes, so it's all tripe.

Sorry, what? I never said it was credible.

Even (actually especially) if my favourite was ahead, I'd still take it with a pinch of salt.

Not really getting your point.

I really don't get the "Ray had more competition than Hayley does" views I'm reading on here. To my mind Ray was head and shoulders better than everyone else from start to finish last year, which to be frank, made the series the least interesting so far for me. This year I'd say Hayley started on a par with several of the others and if they'd improved as much and as consistently as she has presumably they could all be at the same level now. Who knows, there's still time for someone else to have a bit of a breakthrough and make the contest closer ... but unless that happens I can't see any other winner that's for sure.

I'm also not really feeling the love for Kieron Dunno what it is - maybe all the gangling limbs, but I'd much rather watch either Danny or Gary than him.

Each to their own though - it wouldn't be much of a discussion forum if we all had the same taste
I agree with you. I think the improvement from Hayley from last week to this week was just unbelievable.

Taking the DS Week 8 Fave and Least fave polls figures..

If you take the number of votes for the least favourite couple away from the votes they got for the favourite couple - it makes interesting reading...

Hayley/ Dan - Fave 71 votes less least fave 67 votes = 4
Gary/ Maria - fave 33 less least fave 23 = 10
Danny/ Frankie - fave 16 less least fave 37 = -21
Kieron/ Brianne - fave 52 less least fave 13 = 46
Danniella/ Matthew - fave 52 less least fave 19 = 33

Leaderboard based on overall popularity on here

1. Kieron 46
2. Danniella 33
3. Gary 10
4. Hayley 4
5. Danny -21

Shows that although Hayley tops the favourite poll - she also tops the LEAST favourite one by a long way which pulls her down.

Interesting to see that on here at least - Kieron is the most popular overall followed by Danniella - and they are a long way ahead of Gary......
To be honest with you, I really don't think the posters on Digital Spy affect the score or what is actually going on in any way at all. Mikey almost always lead the 'favorite couple' thread, and Hayley always lead the 'least favorite' by some amount of votes...and Mikey is now out, and Hayley is the only contestant not been in a skate off.

I would not look too much into Digital Spy polls at all....they really mean nothing im afraid.

To be honest her serious competition in the public vote stakes went last Sunday. Hayley will win now - which is a bit boring - as all the others have been in the bottom 2 now.

I agree with you.

It's a bit like last year, when Ray was so obviously going to win.

However, I'm still going to enjoy all the performances...and comment on them.

I see not counting your chickens before they hatch lasted long.

Kieron has a better chance of winning as he has the personality & improvement factor. Hayley is nowhere near Ray, so people may not feel motivated to vote her.

I personally would prefer Kieron or Danny over Hayley just because predictable results (as in, the one who is good from the start winning won't do the show any favours.)

Obviously I'd prefer Gary over everyone but that's so not gonna happen.

I was about to say...

I think Hayley is very likely to win, but the difference between her and the rest is nothing like it was with Ray, and there's still 3 more weeks to go - a lot can happen in that time. Who'd have thought three weeks ago that Danny would be the highest scoring boy, or that Mikey (who was the overwhelming favourite for the early weeks) would have ended up out of the competition. One poorer performance from Hayley, combined with a leap forward from one of the boys, and the situation could change quite dramatically. Probably won't happen, but I definitely wouldn't rule it out.

I never claimed it was scientific - or accurate. Its only based on DS members who bothered to vote in the polls, and as you say its hardly representative of the viewing public at large

What it does show though - is that on here at least - Hayley tops BOTH polls the favourite and the least favourite, and her lead in the favourite poll is nowhere as big as her lead in the least favourite.

She obviously has the love her or loathe her problem with very little in between, and given that her lead in the least favourite poll is so big - it would indicate that she won't pick up votes from supporters of those who leave.

It would be interesting to see if we have a Week 9 poll to see if her position will change this week. I notice noone has put a thread up yet.

Statistically the difference between Hayley and the rest, now that we've seen what she's capable of, is bigger than the difference between Ray and Jessica ever was.

Before Sunday's program, Kieron was leading the week 8 poll and Danniella was second, so I think some people have voted in that poll when they thought they were voting for this week's show.

They have...that's why I wish they would hurry up and bring a week 9 poll on.

Anyone know when this will happen?

Maybe, but you can only vote once, some people just voted late and now, of course, Hayley is the favourite for week 8.
