iRiver B30 - any comments? Anyone got?

I am considering, but it lacks a few features like EPG and EPG recording. Apparently it only records within a 24 hour window.

Looks like no takers.

My wife has one, and we bought one for her grandmother.

It's a superb player with fantastic sound quality.

Confused by your post, though? What do you mean by "EPG" and "EPG recorder"?

If you mean Electronic Programme Guide and recording like Sky+, there's no such thing on radio.

Well, DAB has an EPG, and my radio can be set to record using it, and can rewind live radio - so there's no reason why a portable device could not do the same.

Yea, DAB has an EPG, just like Freeview has, and is a damn sight better than the Sky presentation. On my Humax Freeview I can search for programmes by name. Very handy.

So on this B30, how do you record programmes? Set a timer for up to the next 24 hours? I have read the manual and it is not that explicit.

A bit limiting but if it is a portable and you have it with you, not so much of a chore, I guess. Depending on reception in remote places.

If you listen to Music, I guess it is all a bit arbitrary, but Radio4 & BBC7 - it is not all the same.

Oh - the upgrade on the B20 could do EPG &/or record I was told. I guess that's progress. Maybe it was a bit flakey, because the spec as advertised does not look to be any more feature rich, on the contrary.

Weird, I've never ever seen a device with EPG for DAB...

Never tried to record on it, I'm afraid. To be honest, I wouldn't trust portable reception to be good enough - and if you've got your portable player, surely you can listen? If not, there's iplayer...
