Hey everyone, I'm really struggling with I Tunes....

First, the albums section seems to be indicating i have an album, qutoting the album title in the albums list, but often its just a single track from a compilation of some sort?

Secondly, I dont like the way all my albums appear jumbled up genre wise but in alphabetical order, how do you categorize everything?

I've turned the autosync off to try n get more control as I kept adding then losing stuff before as I have a few hard drives with different tunes on that im trying to import together, but I'm still struggling with the above.

If anyone can help that'd be great!

Metadata, it all about the metadata.
This is the 'hidden' data that program like iTunes use to organise you files and is embedded in the file itself.
If you have MP3's, then MP3Tag will help enter the metadata (including album covers).
If you have AAC format then you will need to find a similar program. As I only have MP3's I have not looked.

With an album all the songs will have the same artist and album name in the metadata. However with compilations they will usually have the artist that created the song and the compilation album title.

Before you know it looks like a mess. Getting it organised take some doing. This is particularly so if you have ripped CD's, shared music with a mate or downloaded via p2p. Everyone has their own way it seems.

You can add Genre, Year, Artist, Album, Composer etc. There is a ton of info you can add/ delete/ tidy up.
It will take up some time but once your collection is straightened up you will really appreciate it
