I have a strange feeling that lucy will bond with the baby during the pregnancy and not be able to give it up to jane. and if she does i can see her changing her mind.

Theres something abt lucy and this pregnancy she seems to have that maternal instinct. the way she refused flatly to have an abortion showed some depth in her character as a would be mum. does anyone else agree?.

seriously can see lucy's character developing and maturing. jane may end up heartbroken.

this storyline is going to be big for the beales as tonights ep showed the difference of emotions between ian and jane. and ians trust issues in assuming janes behind the idea. i think deep down he does want jane to have a baby. but he doent want jane to benefit from lucys loss wow what a powerful emotion to deal wth.and its realistic i'd say. seriously some strong implications in this story line shows a road of heartbreak ahead.

i think lucy should keep her baby. jane hurting for what could have been hers is less than lucys regret later.

what are your opinions?

Mostly I agree, I think Lucy has been a bit more mature about this than I would have expected. The only fly in the ointment is actually something that Jane said, about Lucy making it up for what Steven did to her. But that depends on how responsible Lucy feels and there hasn't been much indication that she was that bothered! I can't see it working out though; that'd be too straightforward

I'd love to see them go through with it, it'd be a brilliant future storyline. I'd hate to see it turn out with Lucy bonding with the baby during pregnancy and keeping it, breaking Jane's heart and crushing her dreams. That's just dull, all it would do is create tension in the Beale house and we only see more of Jane harping on about babies.

It'd be far more interesting to see it play out and Jane act as mum, with Lucy playing mum when and where possible behind her back for a few years, eventually possibly kidnapping the child and then going through a custody battle, which Jane wins. Lucy turns to drink and drugs and goes completely off the rails...the scope in endless.

oh wow pete u have very thick skin, i have always been pro birth mother in storys where the birth and adoptive mothers are equally nice ppl. i'd hate to see that happen to lucy. i rather lucy takes responsibility for her child and breaks janes heart gently this is the lesser of two evils heh!

and then to watch lucy break the streotype around teen mums, because not all teen mums lack ambition and have their lives thrown away by having a baby. lucy could struggle to balance the baby and school with her father and brothers help. i seriously can see her character developing into a strong mother who makes something of herself. i think its more realistic and it hasnt been done before properly in eastenders.

my best friend did it i watched her keep a baby she was told to abort and her maternal instincts wouldnt allow her to put up for adoption. then watched her live in a council flat living of income support for 2 years before finding it in herself to go back to college aged 20 study for an access into nursin course, and graduate aged 24 from uni as a qualified midwife. shes happy now with a beautiful lil girl whos smart and in primary school. and works as a midwife happy and content with the choices she made and now feels it was all worth it.

my friend went thru a lot and only had her friends as support. so would love lucys character to do one for all the strong lil mama's out there. i think it would be empowering to watch and could get rid of this broken britain trend of estate mothers living of benefits jeremy kyle style livestyles we hear a lot abt. as a lot of teen mums have ambitions and pursue them but such cases are not highlighted enough

I'd like Lucy to keep the baby. This pregnancy storyline has already made her a more rounded character, it would be good to see how she takes to being a mother.

I have no sympathy left for Jane. The way she switches back and forth between being satisfied with Bobby and wanting more is annoying. After Bobby went missing she seemed to finally realise she's already got a child, but a few weeks later she's right back to saying she's not a proper mum.

It's obvious what will happen. It's always the same with this storyline (and it has happened before in soap). Lucy will bond with the baby then want him/her back - Jane will put up a fight put will eventually lose.

I'm hoping they go the other way with this personally.

I don't think Ian wants Jane to have a baby, whether it is Lucy's or adopted. The spoilers say Lucy will soon be admitted to hospital: highly possible that she miscarries her baby.

I think Lucy should keep the baby, but not give to Jane as like you say, there are bound to be complications.

I think it would be good if as the birth grows closer, Lucy decides to raise the baby as hers, to which Jane reluctantly agrees. However after the baby is born have Lucy suffer from post-natal depression, would be a good moral test for Jane I think, whether to help her step-daughter or to take on the maternal role herself.

Yes i think it will be a tug of love storyline. if you notice Lucy always refers to "MY baby"

A similar storyline happened in Hollyoaks, with Amy Barnes and her mum.

Anyway Amy didn't want the baby and so her mum pretended it was hers. Then Amy bonded with the baby and her mum went insane and kidnapped the baby.

You really had to see the episodes to fully understand what the heck I'm on about.

Its also very similar to Dawn and May storyline. Someone else bringing up the child.

NOt many fresh ideas coming from the Santer camp at the moment.

I've missed a few episodes before Christmas but are we sure the Baby is Leon's?
Didn't Lucy have it away with a DJ of someone at a party? Something about chipped nail varnish on a toenail - or am I getting it all hopelessly mixed up?

I think Lucy will end up bringing the baby up herself in the end. My theory is that Jane will take the baby when he/she is born and run away, but Lucy will bond with him/her and decide that she wants the baby back, leading to a showdown between Jane and Lucy. Ian and Peter will end up backing Lucy up and persuade Jane to give the baby back.

My cousin was pregnant at Lucy's age, she was unsure about what to do at first and it was a shock for both her and her parents but they all got through it. My cousin is now almost 20 with a 3 year old child and her own house, I think she's still with the child's father as well.

This would be a great storyline if BK wanted to axe Jane who I do like but without Ian she is pointless so BK might want the beale family to go in a new direction.

I think once the baby comes Lucy's feelings for it will get stronger, she will not be able to resist bonding with the baby and will eventually decide she cannot go through with the adoption.

Hope that doesn't happen, Santer has really refreshed the Beale family and put them at the heart of the show.
