... They did a DOI 'champion of champions' special program? I know they did something similar to this a year or two ago with the Christmas special, but I'm talking about getting the winner and runner up from each series - Gaynor and Stefan, Kyran and Clare, Suzanne and Chris, Ray and Donal and whoever from this series - and having them all compete against each other. It would settle all the "who's better, Ray or Chris or Suzanne etc etc" and each week would be exciting as no matter who was in the skate off it would be a shock result.

Just thinking aloud anyhoo

I'd be up for a special where we had less couples and more routines, so maybe just invite the winners back and get them to do two contrasting routines each? Would that work?

That'd fill up 75 minutes or so, then you could have some pro routines during the voting and then a skate-off to decide the winner, rather than the loser! Audience to vote on the winner a la the Tour.

There we go, ITV, that's £500 to Droog and £500 to LL for consultancy. Cheers

Great idea, that would be absolutely fab, however, if Hayley wins who will Dan skate with (her or Gaynor.

Nice one! haha. Though I may have to pay back my 500 in copyright fees as a quick check of Wikipedia has shown me that there's already been a show separate from the Christmas spesh that was called 'champion of champions'. Doh!

Err... well I've not worked out the fine details yet but... HEY LOOK OVER THERE QUICK! /runs

I like the sound of this, think it would be a close competition.

I like the idea of them doing it again now. Especially as there are now more finalists and they are able to give out better routines. Think Chris, Ray and Suzanne for example.

The last champions of champions show they did only included finalists from series 1 and 2. However I would suggest that they do a show like this later in the year. Remember the result last time. Kyran won the series, a week later he won champions of champions. Still fresh in the public's eye. (Not saying he didn't deserve to win, he was the best at time)

It would be great to see each series finalists compete against each other. It would put all the criticisms to one side I would imagine. Would be a great show, think of Kyran, Clare, Chris, Suzanne, Ray and Hayley all competing in one show. Would certainly be interesting.

I'd like that. What an interesting show that would be!

Although I wish they'd not do Bolero.

I'd love to see that show, but I'm not sure it would resolve the "who is better" issues since some of those involved have continued to perform on the ice regularly (Kyron is in Holiday on Ice for instance) and have therefore further improved, whilst not all the others have.

Still think it would make for a great show though - why not do it without the voting element so that we can just enjoy the performances? Surely we don't need to turn everything into a viewer driven competition to have a good show?

I agree to say it would resolve things wouldn't quite be true. Yes Kyran has practically lived on the ice and so has Clare to a certain extent. Whereas I'm not sure if someone like stefan has skated in a long long time.
But it would be an extremely interesting show. I don't think it's going to happen at any point though. ITV seemed to have scrapped champion of champion shows and also it would be difficult to get some of them back with work commitments.

Great idea! Perhaps they could all dance another of Jayne & Chris's iconic routines - actually anything but Bolero!!!

I'd like to see Ray dance his favourite routine against Hayley with her Slumdog routine.

That would be my fantasy line up. I would certainly far rather see the likes of Clare & Chris than Gaynor who actually won the show. I guess it would be difficult to get everyone together with work commitments, especially Suzanne now she is in Emmerdale. I suspect the reason they didn't have a Christmas special last year was because Suzanne, Ray, Chris & Clare were all in shows/panto so it wouldn't have been much of a show.

I don't think that it would ever prove anything. People will always have their favourites and that's fine. All those above bring something different to the party & are great skaters in their own right.

It'd be a great show but it wouldn't resolve anything (not that that means I wouldn't want to see it ).

People don't necessarily agree that the best skater won their individual series. In series 2 and 3 particularly, there are still fans of Clare and Chris who think that said celebs were better than Kyran and Suzanne. Whoever won the "special" would only have won over more people than the others during that show - they wouldn't convince that many people who supported someone else .

Poor Gaynor would be totally out of her depth I fear.

Gaynor would be well out of her depth!! I think she is really going to struggle on tour - I suspect that she will be at the bottom of the leaderboard a lot of the time.

Bless her.

I really liked her too.

But she took part before it all got really serious!

It would be better to have people on tour from this series than Gaynor really.

Agree about Gaynor, from what I can remember ( and admit it's a bit hazy) she didn't do an awful lot of skating on her own which is why when Claire was in series 2 she really stood out as being a much better skater. In fairness to her though, as Sid said it series 1 wasn't taken so seriously. Just hope she's been able to put a lot of practice in.

It wouldn't tell you much at all. The judges have already given Suzanne, Ray and Hayley 30s and couldn't split them. Clare has had 29.5 as has Kyran and Chris got to 29. The judges marks wouldn't be able to split them usefully and the routine might decide the difference if they could. As for a public vote it could be a vote for anything if the skating was close - smile, too much or too little grin, biceps, sex appeal.........It would be a good exhibition but not a contest.

Where? What is it. Damned, how could I fall for this one

I agree with the sentiment that Gaynor would be out of her depths, although I did support her in the first series. I think it's the beauty of shows such as SCD and DOI that they start at a much lower level, and now 4 or 6 years on, we are at a much higher level (with a real peak in DOI last year with Ray).

I'll also sign a petition if Droog and LL want to get the money from ITV.
