It'son my iTunes but it's from when my brother bought the song from the store.

If you type in "Break My Heart free mp3" into google, a loadof results will come up where you can download it for free. Bee mp3 and mp3raid are the most reliable.

Alexandra burke - bad boys will do well though

Good on taio though, props

jay Sean had competition from Britney spears 3 words and BEP "I Gotto Feeling", which was #1 for 6 months, he fought hard to dethrone them LOL! and then britney as well when she was #1

Taio my prediction will definatly make it two weeks at #1

JLS and Alex up next!

Well done to Jay Sean.

I hope JLS and Alexandra Burke and Cheryl Cole flop. They do not deserve UK success, let alone US success...

why can't we export some decent, British musicians instead of Cowell's latest money making venture.

Wow thats really cool!
First Jay Sean and Now Taoi Cruz!

It looks like a lot of the good british talent we have here at home which gets ignored for lesser crap is getting appreciated in america

Amazing! Well done Taio, fully deserved. Ok - the influence of Ludacris no doubt helped, but this has happened mainly because Break Your Heart is a brilliant song. When the X Factor products do well in America, it's because Cowell manufactures them for the American market - just look at the cast of Leona and Alexandra's albums.

But no doubt Taio Cruz won't get any UK press coverage for this achievement, because he isn't from X Factor. Whereas JLS got an article in The Sun yesterday saying 'America loves JLS' just because one of their songs got played once on US radio. What a joke.

There are hundreds of songs that end up making it big that other stars have turned down, the biggest hits are usually the only ones that really come to our attention, but there were probably plenty of crappy songs Christina Milian turned down as well, it's not like she only turned down one song and it ended up being a hit.

Umbrella was reportedly rejected by Mary J Blige and Britney before reaching Rihanna.

Getting a number 1 does not equate to talent.

Coming onto the last point. It's true that songs get thrown around and rejected by other artists. Britney's first single "Baby One More Time" was actually offered to TLC first and "Since U Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson was meant for Pink, for example.

There's tons of examples. It often shows lack of originality; everyone gets stuff done for them and they just put the icing on the cake.

I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of the song either.

But Break Your Heart aside, the guy has been writing and producing his own material for years, including material for other artists (Will Young, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to name a few). And having success with it! That's more than can be said for a lot of people in the music industry.

I hope The Gorillaz can get the number one album next week to restore some British pride

Oh, so if Leona and Alexandra do well world wide, it's because of Simon Cowell. Not their talent, of course. All Simon.

I wasn't saying that. I'm saying that because Cowell is so obsessed with 'breaking America', he does everything he can to make sure they are marketable over there, so he can say to everyone 'look how amazing they are!'. Like I said - just look at the casts of Leona and Alexandra's albums. My issue is that Cowell has no love for British music and all he is ever bothered about for X factor contestants is breaking America, hence why Leona gets compared to Whitney and Mariah, and Alexandra to Beyonce. Anyway, don't want to get into a big debate on this thread...

I don't think JLS will do very well. I think they will flop in America. They are apparantly pushing Everybody in Love to be their first US single, but I think One Shot is a better song. Everybody in Love is kinda cheesy anyway, and they are known for being on a show over here, in the US they are unknown, which doesn't help them. I hope they don't include some random american rapper or something in their songs, like Taio did with Ludacris and Jay Sean did with Lil Wayne.

What is 'British music'? Music made by British people?

hmm..

Just because they become big in America doesn't mean it isn't British music. Unlike Natasha Bedingfield, who I think didn't do very well over here, so only released songs in the US [could be wrong there, I'm not a fan]. Girls Aloud have recorded some of their songs in LA, is their music not British either? I don't understand that point, with respect. Surely Simon wants British acts to do well over there because it's 'British music'?

I'm happy for him, but this is a good point. It will be interesting to see how well other singles and his album end up doing in the US.

So does Taio by adding Ludacris...because Ludacris is so British

The song itself has to have something going for it. Other people have had big artists featured on their songs and it didnt make those songs hit.

His album sales will be abysmal. Anyone whose debut single is with a rapper will have bad album sales. But at the end of the day, it gets them noticed on radio and helps create momentum.

You haven't "cracked" the US until you can sell out a tour, IMO.

Well Jay sean's album has been a total flop despite even having a second top 10 hit which has been the chart quite a while.

Let's see if Taio's album does well.

That's correct

Come to think of it, Leona has yet to even add US tour dates yet. I wonder how well they will do despite her second album flopping there.

Can't agree with that. Most acts can "sell out" a tour playing 100 seat venues and such. I fail to see how to proves you have broken through....if you do 20 dates that 20 x 100, which means you have a sell out tour but you have played to a total of 2000 people in a country of 300 Million. As for arena tours...even Beyonce can't sell out hers...does that mean she hasn't made it ?

I think when your album is selling it means you have broken through, that shows people are interested enough to invest in you, the artist, and not just in a catchy song.

I doubt she will be touring the US anytime soon. Touring on the back of a flop album is a very bad idea. If she does tour it might be as a guest or maybe a few solo dates at small venues. I think they are likely to wait until next era which will hopefully be better than this one.
