5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.

Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high). The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous). And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!

What if you haven't got a 1000 watt microwave, do you cook it for longer?

Thanks for the recipe. I made this some time ago and posted the recipe on here but the site link I got it from has taken it off.

Thanks again!

Are you sure that isn't teaspoons full, not tablespoons?

I was about to make a thread on this tonight, but you've saved me the bother!

It says the choc chips are optional. I would say they they are mandontary!

I have a 750w microwave.
I kept taking it out to see if it had cooked, but after 3 mins it still looked raw. So I zapped it for a few seconds longer.

The texture is a little leathery= over cooked.

I have a 750w microwave, so I wasn't sure how much extra time it needed.

I think I'll stick to making brownies.

I'll ask again since it doesn't include baking powder it'll need something to make it rise.

This recipe was given out on Chris Evan's Radio 2 show last year. I have an 800watt microwave and it didn't turn out well. It was very dry and I wouldn't try it again.

I used ordinary flour. It rises a lot and comes over the mug,so it is best to use a bowl.

2 out of 2 accounts of it being dry is too many for me. Think i'll give it a miss. Nice idea though.

Yeah, I made this the other week in a desperate "no snacks in house, must have cake" mode. And it was revolting. I could have resoled my boots with it. Chucked it in the bin in the end.

I doubt it would work in a wok.
