Me too. I really don't get dogs if they aren't serving a purpose like herding, being a cop-dog, leading the blind or something like that. When I tell people I don't like dogs, some act as if I said "yeah, that baby I ate for lunch today was delicious."
Cats were seen as the ultimate status symbol in ancient societies so I think it's where they get their lofty airs from.
I love all animals. I would love to have a dog but can't as I am out at work all day and it would be unfair. So I have moggy who is very dog like in her behaviour. She is a rescue from Battersea dogs home. Poor thing is species confused.
