Waitrose Cafe
Altheya

Hi all

We have a new Waitrose store due to open near work soon and there has been mention of it also having a cafe.

Just wondered if anyone has been to a Waitrose cafe and what they thought of it, what kind of things are on the menu etc?

Cheers
I love Ellie

Why not buy the ingredients from a local farm shop instead of the supermarket, then cook at home?

Cheaper, quicker, easier and tastier than any cafe.

I've just worked you out. Are you the latest Eliza bot? Nice to meet you. How would you make yorkshire pud?

I think anyone who enters food threads demanding everything discussed needs to be homemade, should be REPORTED if they don't subsequently provide a recipe.

Why not grow your own crops and keep your own animals instead of shopping at the farm shop.

I'm guessing that a Waitrose cafe would be quite expensive but I bet the food would be lovely, good quality ingredients

You are actually correct. We should all strive to do this.

However, owning a smallholding is hard given the current economic climate.

Sadly allotments have been closed near us and remain difficult to get

If you all ignore "it" then it will grow bored. Just ignore everyone of there posts instead of quoting it as thats what "it" wants and so by quoting it then "its" winning.

Why not build your own Waitrose out of flat pack furniture and a small plant grown on your kitchen windowsill?

I'm not gonna tell you which one mind..........

I think Mantey grows his own electricity and has knitted a computer from dandelions and spiders' legs.
Because if he hasn't, he's not leading us by example.
For shame.

Anything is better than Starbucks, Costa etc. I hate the way these chains have invaded every High Street in every city and every town in Britain; on principle I refuse to drink in any of them.

As for Waitrose - not bad but nothing special. I rarely eat or drink in supermarkets.

Espresso. Dya think our Matey is really the knitted character from Harry Hill - and therefore cannot actually make his own food, because he has no fingers - or thumbs for that matter - so has to just talk about it or fantasize about it?

It is expensive but better than other supermarket cafes. It is good when you find marked down food. The raspberry amaretto cake and cheesecake is to die for. You can buy them to take home at the cake counter too.

Our local Waitrose has a branch of Costa as it's in-store cafe - is that normal? I've never been to another branch of Waitrose big enough to have an in-store cafe.

I have two Waitrose stores near me and neither has a cafe? But I bet of all the supermarket cafe's the Waitrose one will be quite nice?

The Waitrose cafe near me serves excellent coffee. In fact, they are missing a marketing opportunity, as when I asked what type of coffee they used and whether it was available in-store, the assistant didn't know.

Bacon rolls are nice, too.

Thanks all (except Mantey, you tiresome freak), I'll let you know what it's like once I manage to take a lunch break!
