http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/dancingo...-daughter.html

The article above says how his daughter would be 'devastated' if he is voted off the show. Didn't he also have an interview a few weeks ago saying that he would propose to his girlfriend if he won the show ?!

My thoughts are he should just shut up trying to get votes any way he can from the public...and just get on a try to actually entertain the audience for once...

Only starting to?????

Seriously this man's attitude is awful he's basically using his daughter...... countless times and story of he'll propose to his girlfriend for votes. Can't stand him hope he goes out plus his skating is so dull.

I really hate these 'emotional blackmail' stories. The one about him proposing was bad enough.

He sounds so passionate about the show. "Yeah, my daughter told me to do it, so..."

You think that someone would have had a word with Gary by now and told him that hes doing himself no favours.

Gary's skating is good, that's good enough for me. Don't care about any of the other stuff.

I don't believe the proposal story it was in the News Of The World and not an interview with Gary, and what's wrong with saying his daughter would be devastated if he was voted out it's obviously true.

You even said yourself that proposal one could be a twist of words.

Anyway, in response to this thread, Gary rocks.

Let me get this straight. You hate anyone posting comments about Hayley if it's negative and not skating related? But it's okay for Gary? LOL

Well I'm a Hayley fan hoping she wins but I'd be happy to see Gary in the last three or even two. Compared to Mikey dedicating his appearance to Stephen G, it seems Gary is positively restrained.

At least we've been spared some of the more outlandish tear jerking vts a la Peter Kay's Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice

Thank God no one so far has mirrored SCD's Alesha and R Nan.

Mikey didn't do this.

He was asked about Stephen and he said "Well yeah, it's for Stephen as much as anyone else" and then didn't mention Stephen again until he was voted out and public vote didn't matter anymore.

But I can't remember Stephen being mentioned a lot - indeed, all I can remember is him being mentioned in week 2 then laid to rest, as it were. Certainly Gary's daughter has popped up more than Stephen Gately - some of that is down to the producer focusing the camera on her just as he's about to dance. But some of it is down to Gary promoting her, such as allowing the cameras into his home and this interview.

We see things differently - one interview doesn't really compare to those who have, in the past, held out the begging bowl for votes.

We've seen Daniella's youngsters with their banners just as she's about to take to the ice and since week 2 (when the males first made an appearance) I couldn't disassociate Mikey's performance from the tragedy of Stephen's death. I won't say more, it might seem insensitive and/or inappropriate and I don't think there was any intention to trade on Stephen's early demise, but I always felt the spectre of Stephen overshadowed Mikeys performance. Moreover Mikey's wife paid a visit and has been shown in the audience every week - nothing wrong with that, but nothing different to Gary's little 'un.

In previous series we've seen the offspring of other zelebs screaming for Mummy or Daddy. Many alleged that Suzanne's little boy swung the vote for her - but, cute though he was, I disagreed vehemently.

At the end of the day - does anyone really vote because the child, mum, dad, colleague or friend tugs at the heart strings?

But that is probably due to you and not to anything Mikey has done. Now call me callous, I did not think of Stephen each time Mikey was skating, and he certainly did not bring him up (I even must have missed the one time you mentioned).

This year IMO none of the participants have really milked anything to be fair. Yes we have seen Emily's mum, and Gary's daughter (lovely thing), Sharron's kids, etc. (actually apart from her friendship with Dan, we haven't seen much of Hayley's family come to think of it).

Anyway, they all seem restrained, and this story really is a non-story as well. His daughter is very enthusiastic about the show (you can see it every Sunday when she is quite legitimately shown in the audience), of course she would be devestated.

Sorry should have elabourated....

CAN managed Katie Price and still manage Peter Andre.

They have a style of management for me which is very samey and predictable photo shoots with the kids promoting the fact that the client loves their kids etc etc. An illness/bump would become a huge emergency......all a bit fake.

Don't get me wrong they are good at their job.....they made Jordan into Katie Price.

I don't think anyone would vote for someone in the hope that they get them to propose to their girlfriend.
I don't mind Gary, I think he can skate but he seems too laidback to put everything into it like most of the others.

A part of me though thinks, if you love your partner surely you'd propose regardless of whether you win an ice-skating competition.

Being laid back can sometimes give the impression that a person is making less of an effort than those who make more of a show of it.
