We've seen Daniella's youngsters with their banners just as she's about to take to the ice and since week 2 (when the males first made an appearance) I couldn't disassociate Mikey's performance from the tragedy of Stephen's death. I won't say more, it might seem insensitive and/or inappropriate and I don't think there was any intention to trade on Stephen's early demise, but I always felt the spectre of Stephen overshadowed Mikeys performance. Moreover Mikey's wife paid a visit and has been shown in the audience every week - nothing wrong with that, but nothing different to Gary's little 'un.
In previous series we've seen the offspring of other zelebs screaming for Mummy or Daddy. Many alleged that Suzanne's little boy swung the vote for her - but, cute though he was, I disagreed vehemently.
At the end of the day - does anyone really vote because the child, mum, dad, colleague or friend tugs at the heart strings?”
But that is probably due to you and not to anything Mikey has done. Now call me callous, I did not think of Stephen each time Mikey was skating, and he certainly did not bring him up (I even must have missed the one time you mentioned).
This year IMO none of the participants have really milked anything to be fair. Yes we have seen Emily's mum, and Gary's daughter (lovely thing), Sharron's kids, etc. (actually apart from her friendship with Dan, we haven't seen much of Hayley's family come to think of it).
Anyway, they all seem restrained, and this story really is a non-story as well. His daughter is very enthusiastic about the show (you can see it every Sunday when she is quite legitimately shown in the audience), of course she would be devestated.
