Internet/IPTV
Hi
This is my first post so please be gentle with me ![]() Does anyone know of a good internet TV service in the UK that works WITHOUT an ariel/dish for a 40inch TV? I've looked at BT Vision but it seems to need a Freeview ariel? Sorry if it's a dumb question ![]() Thanks in advance |

Try using tvcatchup. It's got all the freeview channels, but it doesn't allow for premium channels. Sky do a sky player service that works on Windows 7.
All of these services require a Media Center PC, but an Acer Aspire Revo can be bought for around £150 on eBuyer. I hope this is of some help... |

This Very Tangy TV/VTTV looks great, does anyone have any experience? It looks ideal for me but I'd like to hear what other users think before I make a big commitment! Thanks |

Well I can't find any proper feedback on this but there doesn't seem to be anything like it out there? All the others need an ariel as well?
So I'm going to take the plunge and order it - wish me luck! I'll try and post my experiences. |

Just one thing, how fast is your broadband speed,i would think a min of 2Kbps,will be needed.
As craigbeat said have you tried Tvcatchup, did that play ok? Yes all the best, and do let us know how you get on |

Thanks Jasper, nice to hear from the old country! I'm now stuck down south!
I've got 4 meg and TVcatchup plays well most of the time but I'm bored with just the laptop. I'll start a new thread about Very Tangy TV when it arrives. |

BTV says it needs an arial, but you don't have to have it plugged in to access the VOD services.
So - yes, you can use BT Vision. Just don't indicate when ordering that you don't have an arial. It's self install too. Updates etc come by wire so Freeview is not required for it to work. |

Thanks It'll probably be on again soon , so i'd check out their upcoming schedules so you can get more info about it . I think Ideal World are initially selling it cheaper than VT's website too . Hope you find what you want .

Thanks everyone.
Scotty - BT Vision looks good but I'm trying to get live TV for us on a bigger screen, BT Vision just seems to be on-demand when its over the net. Marroo - good shout on Ideal World, definately cheaper if you want the netplugs - which I do. Plus I might have more comeback if it doesn't work! Anyway, the deed is done, fingers crossed. Thanks |

TalkTalk TV broadcasts all the main live channels through the phone line as well as VoD, via a router/set top box connected to the TV (you need to take broadband with them too).
It is very well established although not highly advertised (it used to be Tiscali TV, before that it was Homechoice). It surprises me that most people on here don't seem to know it exists even though there's a dedicated forum for it. Perhaps the lack of advertising is taking its toll: http://www.talktalk.co.uk/tv/buy-talktalk-tv/ |
