Can anyone suggest a decent digital camera for under £100, unfortunately its my limit. One that has best quality in MP and/or manual time/exposure settings

I am looking for something in this shape

You won't get an SLR-Style camera for under £100 unless you buy second hand on ebay, and then it's going to an older model still.

Do some research (Google/ Bing is your friends here) for camera under £100.
As the poster above states you will not get an SLR at that price. No where near.

You need to be realistic in your needs!

Do you actually want the features, functionality and image quality of an SLR, which as others have said you'll not get for sub-£100 without going into the used market, (and even then, good luck!) or just a compact that is in a more traditional camera shape rather than being super-compact?

It's a little over your budget but realistically your only option that I can think of if you want to buy new is the Fujifilm S1500, guide price £140 but you can probably get it cheaper with a bit of digging.

I have searched google but you cannot specify prices so bit useless thats why i am asking for personal views.as people know better than a search engine

I am looking for something under £100 that has a wide variety of eposure settings and timer. Main objective is to take night shots so need long exposures (but varied) and also change the f-settings

Google is searchable by price if you know where to look

I hate to say it but I think you're expecting too much for £100. If you do find something that meets all your criteria I'd be very interested to hear what it is!

Compact cameras use much smaller sensors than SLRs, consequently their light gathering abilities are reduced which means night shots with long exposures are noisy. You may actually be better off with a good film SLR which you can easily get for under £100 but of course you've got film and processing costs.

If you are set on digital though, I'd actually advise you DON'T go for as high a pixel count as possible. In order to cram more and more pixels onto compact digital sensors, manufacturers are having to reduce the size of each pixel which means, yet again that each pixel's light gathering ability is further compromised. If you go for something with lower pixel count each pixel should be bigger, meaning more light gathered per pixel hence cleaner night shots. It's not a hard and fast rule by any means but worth bearig in mind.

The Kodak EasyShare P880 is quite well regarded and DSLR like (in looks). It's an old camera and you will be able to pick up a used one for less than £100.
