It's Prop Week!

Kieron: Microphone (and stand?) *NEW*
Hayley: Umbrella
Gary: Canes (2 of them)
Danny: Hat
Daniella: Chair (on wheels...)

Songs that we know about so far:

Kieron: Freddie Mercury 'The Great Pretender'
Gary: Ian Dury 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick'
Hayley: 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head'

Other tidbits:

Kieron is going to be actually performing the song (). Hayley's routine is a lot slower than most of hers.

Post any more info I've missed!

Hate props week.

I would say Hayley probably has the easiest prop.
Poor Daniella gets a chair with wheels. That's not easy.
Hat and canes can be quite fiddly. And can be dropped quite a lot
Not sure about Kieron's prop as his is new, could be a fun routine

Is that you loading your weapons with ammo just in case she pulls out a show-stopping performance ?!?

"Yeah...but her prop was the easiest!!!"

In my opinion, it's not much easier than the 2 sticks Gary has to work with, the chair that Daniella can sit on, the Microphone that hardly boasts as difficult...

I think they are all equally as difficult as each other...there is nothing in it at all.

Daniella will still have the chair to hold her up, maybe she will do some solo skating now.

No, I don't make excuses as it doesn't matter to me if she does the best performance. I'm just saying what I see.

There's a video interview with him on the DS homepage.

I read somewhere, on a thread here I think, that he was having trouble from laughing at it too much. Which I think is great because Gary really needs to get into his routines more and look like he's enjoying them.

I don't think the umbrella is the easiest prop at all!! (though i'm not saying it's the hardest either ) They have a mind of their own, and all it takes is for the brolly to flip inside out unexpectedly and the routine will be ruined imo. They seem to be pushing Hayley harder than all of them right now- seeing as they gave her more revoloutions than anyone else for the spin last week, so I doubt they would give her the easiest option now!

Really looking forwards to Kieron's routine, seeing what he'll do with the microphone
I hate props week tbh, but really looking forwards to them all tbh!

I think the only prop that has no potential whatsoever is thec chair.

The other props can all create a good routine (yes, even the hat - look at T&D's routines with hats) and all have good and bad things about they handle.

Canes - lightweight, easy to throw, easy to drop.
Umbrella - heavy, difficult to swing, can turn inside out, easy to break, but effective if it works
Hat - Small, light, easy to throw, easy to drop, can't b e used for lifts, can be used for character play

The chair can only really be used for standing or sitting on and that's, well, no fun.

depends on what hat they use a bowler or top hat is easy but a trilby like last year which is too light is not

I really think in that lot that the chair is by far the worse - do they draw straws or are the producers telling us who they want gone?)))

I think the chair's produced some great routines, Clare and Suzanne both did well with it. Roxanne was rubbish last year but that was to be expected.

Yeah I remember when Suzanne had the chair (and the umbrella) she got a very low mark compared to the others for her routine. Zaraah and Chris were both above her I think. Not looking good for Daniella really...

It was mean of them to give them two props in series 3. I was always more of a Suzanne supporter but I felt bloody sorry for Chris having to cart that huge table around.

I always think stuff like canes and hats can be potentially disasterous because if you drop it it pretty much ruins your routine while you stop and pick it up. With the canes they could roll off and you'd have to skate after them.

But yeah, props week in general, never a big fan. The thing that was so nice about Stefan's broom routine was that it was a proper prop routine rather than just random skating around trying to do whatever you can with what you're given. It had a seamlessness to it that I can't remember many other prop routines having. I'd rather have seen the broom back this year than the hat.

That was the week Suzanne chipped her ankle and they had to change parts of the routine to accomodate it. She couldnt do certain moves and move her foot certain ways and it was heavily strapped. The mark wasnt down to the chair, she actually did very well with the chair and umbrella. The slide across the ice on the chair was very nice as was her use of the umbrella, they threw it between them as well.

To a certain degree, it's weird to say that anyone has an easy or difficult prop. It depends what they are doing with it. I wouldn't want Gary's canes (very difficult) and I wouldn't want the umbrella either (what do you do with it apart from throwing it). Last year, Roxy's chair routine was pretty good and Donal's broom routine was fantastic (I thought what the heck can they do with a broom)..

A few years ago Kyran's luggage routine was great, whereas for instance Ray's hat routine was rubbish.

Let's wait until we see the routines before we decide which is easy or not.

I think one of the worst prop routines was Zoe's. She literally seemed to just carry her cane around - so on that occasion, the cane wasn't a good prop for her.

It depends on who you are and what routine you get. To some extent it will also depend on build. Hayley is very petite, for example, so an umbrella is a hefty prop for her, whereas it would've been small for someone like Danny.

Yet Ruthie gave it a 6!!! All she did was wave it around and she had her usual inane manic grin on her face.

More the other way? The problem with the chair is that you have to sit on it or stand on it or as with Clare use it as a launch pad for a big float spin. At that point on previous series someone, starting with the judges, jumps up and says but you didn't move around much ........
