Hey all,

I'm planing on switching to skype (or similar) as we don't use the landline much only for incoming calls, does anyone know if it's possible to keep the same phone number and switch?

Thanks

Sipgate do transfer numbers in from Virgin they charged me £20 to port from my number from a BT line over a year ago.

So I would expect that many of the other VOIP companies do too.

Nope its not possible to keep the sam landline number, you would need a new number when switching to skype

Not if you go for Skype alone and get rid of the landline, you could get dual phone for skype an landline.

If you want sipgate then according to their faq that the answer would be yes

Don't Virgin charge more for other services if you don't have a landline with them?
I've seen posts here saying that it worked out more expensive, so those people simply kept the landline and didn't use it.

You can indeed port your number to providers such as Sipgate. Other providers also allow porting including the one I work for.

Virgin sometimes charge less if you have the phone, Depends what package you're on.
