I'm only looking to spend between £10-£20, They have to be the type that fit inside your ear as the regular apple type ones fall out, I bought a pair of iLuv earphones and the sound quailty is totally dire, I am thinking about the Sennheiser CX200 at £17, have you any other recommendations?

I paid less than £20 for my Senny CX300II's from Amazon, dunno how much they are now, or how they compare to the CX200's, but I'm very happy with them

I have some of these in black. I mine in black from Tesco for just under £12. They are obviously cheaper on Amazon. What it boils down to is if you trust those market place sellers or not.

You can't really go wrong with Sennheiser's. I've tried a few different one's and they're all decent enough.

CX500 £16.99 at Play.

CX300 £9.90 at Amazon.

CX 300-II £14.49 at Amazon. Oddly the white ones are about a fiver dearer.

I'm in a similar position.
Got some Technika HP-609 in ear types (£3..Tescos).
Bought them as an experiment to see how comfortable in-ear types can be. They are brilliantly comfy..but terrible sound. Distorted and lacking detail. Really poor.

So now looking for some that sound good.

Problem is we have to go on recommendation..you simply can't try them out first...bit of an issue when some are VERY expensive.

I'm after some which have really bright clear detailed non-distorted mid/treble + reasonable bass. My HF hearing isn't so great, so prefer brighter balance rather than neutral or bass heavy

Will the CX300 II fit the bill? I've heard these are a bit bass heavy.

After reading some more amazon reviews, due to poor build quality Sennheisers look like a huge risk, and can stop working due to fractured/shorted wiring/joints in as little as 24 hours.
Groan...

I think they've sorted that with the Mk II

I'd definitely recommend the CX300IIs - got through the old CX300s every three months approx, but the mark IIs have been with me for nearly a year now and sound as good as ever!

I've not found that. They seem fairly neutral to me.

I recently bought some £90 Grado SR60i full size headphones and the Sennheisers compare favourably to those, especially given the price difference.

I've had 300's for a long time now, wouldn't say they had too bass at all - infact at first i thought they were too strong in the tennor range but with a little bit of fiddling around with the MP3 players equaliser they sound great.

Be careful where you get them from tho - there are alot of fakes about, so get them from an authorised seller (amazon itself is, but most of the amazon marketplace sellers aren't).

I've found you have to be careful to insert them right into the ear canal. I think some people's bad experiences with them may be down to them having particularly narrow ear canals and so being unable to insert them properly.

I'm not a fan of Sennheisers. I'd go for whichever Sonys you can get for that price.

I wasn't a fan of Sennheiser over ear headphones - didn't rate them, I have ByerDynamic over ears but Sennheiser CX300's converted me from my Sony in ears.

I went for the Sennheiser CX300's amazing sound. The difference between these and my old earphones is like night and day, I am amazed.

Sennheiser MX760s can be had for about £15 on Amazon. Watch out for fakes on eBay.

I have a pair of Sennheiser CX-300 II, and they are excellent.

Be careful buying these headphones though, there are as lot of fakes floating around.

Interesting, I'm the other way round, I prefer the Sony in ear 'phones. Not that it would be the end of the world if I had to use Sennheisers, just a slight preference.

I'd say you can actually hear the bass rather than being bass heavy. Cheap 'phones lose the bass frequency.
Presumably what you are playing your music on has some sort of eQ settings, so you should be able to tweak the output.

I think part of it's down to the fit in your earhole. A lot of cheap earbuds are a horrible fit, whereas the decent ones from Senny and Sony tend to be a nice fit, which really lets you hear the bass. I always use the foam covers on earbuds to get a good fit too.

The CX300-II HAS resolved this, the earlier ones used a hollow cable with the wires in it and tended to split (had 3 pairs that this happened to) wheras the mkII ones have a solid rubber cable that is much much stronger. had mine about a year now and still as good as new. sound quality is superb too. highly recommend them

I have to agree with Rossall....These babies are pretty decent, good treble, nice rounded bass and really good stereo seperation.
