Last week, they saved the person who'd done less well with the required element. So why not this week?

The hat is one of the worst props, because it's so easy to drop it. Ray was even given grief for having it on the wrong way 'round.

I think a lot of uys underestimate the rest of the general public - the older viewers especially. I can see Hayley and Gary being very popular with them.

After all - this thread / group is a very skewed representation of the UK public - IT-savvy and perhaps younger (average) than the ITV viewing public. I think Hayley and Gary will come first and second for this reason.

It should be a 20 second solo next week.

Can't see how Daniella won't manage it. Coleen bloody Nolan managed to stay upright for 20 secs.

As far as I could see it was impossible for it to fall over.

Sadly, I think you're right. The same as with the X Factor, the oldies will vote for the boring one.

Have to disagree for the points I raised in my previous post.

Also - considering Danny was stuck on the same mark for a number of weeks, I'm not sure he can be considered the 'chosen one'.

He improved immensely, he deserved to go further, he didn't.

I agree. I like Kieron but he is disproportionately popular on here. And I don't understand all the bitterness against Gary's personality.

I think that is on the final isn't it?

Don't they do 1 original and 1 previous routine for the final. Then the two that get through do Bolero?

I know it's only a TV show but I am a bit hacked off that Gary was saved. I do fear that he will get voted through to the final now with Kieron v Daniella in the Skate off next week.

Overall I thought that Danny & Kieron gave the best 2 performances but I didn't vote this week so maybe i shouldn't complain.

I also think there was no real stand out routine this year as there have been in other prop weeks like Donal & Stefan's broom routines, Zaraah's hula hoop routine & Kyran's suitcase routine (still the best prop routine on the show).

Overall I am feeling a little flat now.

I suspect that for you, it's a required element! A good one though - helps us not to take things quite so seriously

But Jai Ho involved an unassisted spin with 4 rotations from a stationary position, an unassisted jump and some unassisted toe pick steps.

I don't remember Daniella doing all that. She must have done the required element, but it wasn't 4 spins. She seems to have more lifts and assisted skating than Hayley.

If Jason didn't go on and on about how "dull" he apparantly is, I doubt he'd get as much hate as he seems to. For me, he's just a shy, quiet guy, and he's obviously struggled a bit with the performance side of things because of that. That doesn't make him dull though. He's a good skater too, and seeing as it's a skating show, that counts for something.

Ah, could be - thanks.

Only watched a complete series last year, and memory obviously not that good. I thought the final was the Bolero.

Me too. I think the reason why is because of what I said earlier: out of the five left I could see the programme being hurt most by the departures of Danny or Kieron, because they had the 'storylines' - and both ended up down there.

What are the storylines now - Danniella gets carried on ice, Hayley does as well as ever, Gary's cane may make a comeback and entertain us. If Kieron goes the series really wil struggle to create much interest for the finale IMO.

Despite dropping the hat, Danny did do well, last week , Daniella was saved over Mikey, and as much as did not like Mikey, he did do the required element well, but the judges still saved Daniella. show is fixed.I give up watching. I like Hayley, she will win. Good luck to her.

He is REALLY dull though. He hasn't given a single memorable performance all series!

But I'm resigned to him being at least second now. It's going to be a heck of a tedious final.

I'd have to disagree there. The 'dull' accusations were being aimed at Gary on here well before Jason's rant last week.

Seriously, bornfree, I know you're a massive Danny fan, but it's not that hard to understand! Kieron and Danny both gave great routines (and neither should have been in the skate off, but that's by the by) - they were much of a muchness, so the muck up with the hat was always going to decide it. Just as Robin said.

Mikey was rubbish, and his skate involved virtually nothing, so it never came down to the required element, as Robin pointed out.

I have always veered towards the skating over performance. I hated it when Bonnie was always top when she did bugger all skating & I criticised Daniella tonight for the same. Gary is a good skater but he has proved to me that you also need to have the performance to go with the skating otherwise it just lacks that wow factor. All the best skaters across the series like Kyran, Clare, Suzanne, Chris & Ray have both.

I agree. They biggest risk was it boucning back and hitting Kieron but all he had to do was lean back.

I'm sounding slightly bitter towards Kieron here when I don't mean to be. He's really entertained me in the last two weeks, and I hope he goes all the way. But tonight, I think the judges should've put skating head of props in the skate off and for me (and Karen and Nicky also seemingly) Danny was better.

It's not anything against Gary, but his performance is bland compared with Kieron, as I've said before he just glides around the ice... Kieron skates fast and does the moves... He is still the most entertaining male skater

The pick dancing was more a way to avoid skating than it was skating.

The jump was the sort of jump you do when standing on the ice, jumping, and lifting your feet, so it wasn't skating either.
