Danniella did do the spin in the skate-off, she just messed up in the main show. And Emma wasn't the only one to save her last week and send home Danny this week so why are you singling her out?
They were both excellent in the skate-off. Kieron probably a little bit better anyway.
Ultimately dropping the hat was always going to send him home, and rightly so. They were closely matched otherwise.

Emma saved Keiron based on the fact that he didn't mess up with the prop and Danny did. Last week Mikey did a much better spin than Danniella (I stand corrected about her not doing one at all!) but yet she saved Danniella. I just think that you should be consistant. if you are going to base your decisions on the "required element" alone then you can't overlook someone who performs it the best one week and then send someone home the following week because of it. I'm not a huge fan of either Kieron or Danny but personally I think they should judge based on the performance as a whole and even with the dropped hat I think Danny's was better but hey that's just my opinion !!
On a conspiratorial note maybe they just didn't want him going too far in the competition as they are not doing the tour...!!

The task is to do the required element - not to do it better than the person who also did it. Its a tick in the box or lose a mark issue and potentially a tiebreaker. If you do it better it might count extra to the overall mark but in Mikey's case there was very little else in the routine to add to it and Daniella has more content . Thats what Emma and Robin both said.

The two performances were similarly excellent. So the dropped hat was decisive. Perfectly reasonable.
Mikey was consistently crap, and so the better spin was never going to save him, as Robin clearly pointed out. This week was quite a different situation.
Last week both Nicky and Jason saved Mikey and both stated that they had based their decision on the fact that he had performed the required element better than Danniella (and therefore ignored the rest of the performance) Presumably Karen, Emma and Robin all saved Danniella based on the fact that Daniella's overall performance was better even though her spin was not performed as well as Mikey's. Tonight Emma scored Kieron's performance a 5.00 and Danny's a 5.5 so she obviously thought Danny's overall performance was better! I just think the performances should be judged as a whole without single mistakes being the be all and end all. It was the same with Sinitta, she should never have gone out the first week as she was (IMHO) a much better skater than Sharon.

Personally I would have saved Danny too as I thought his performance was much better than Kieron's. To quote Robin, one dropped hat does not a performance unmake.
Daniella didn't "muck up" her required element or anything. Just one part of her routine wasn't as strong as Mikey's, but the majority was better.
Kieren and Danny were closely matched, so a mistake was always going to make a difference.
In both cases, the person they would have marked higher if they were scoring stayed. The fact it is or isn't a required element is irrelevant.

It just goes to show that they had it in for Danny right from the beginning, but Danny being such a nice person never gave the judges a chance to rubbish him. All he did was drop the hat. Mkey did the element, Daniella did not but they saved her. The show is fixed.
As has already been pointed out, neither Mikey nor Danniella entirely missed the required element, so a 0.5 deduction would not have been appropriate. Mikey did a slightly better job of it, but overall a worse performance.
However, this week, despite the judges marking Danny higher in the main part of the show, the hat was dropped twice during the skate-off and so those fumbles could not be ignored. They had no choice but to save Kieron.

Emma really ANNOYED me tonight !! "Hi Hayley...something was missing tonight...not sure what?!!" HOW IS THAT HELPFUL ?!?!?!? She couldn't judge a raffle !!!
I agree with the OP, infact was about to create the exact same thread.
This week it was all about the required element but last week it wasnt but based on performance.

:yawn: The difference is the two routines this week were both very good. So it came down to the required element in deciding. Exactly as Robin said it would.
Mikey was consistently rubbish, so one good spin didn't really matter.
The required element is only crucial where the two contestants are closely matched. As was the case tonight.
(Though it's worth bearing in mind that the after the hat drop, the routine sort of fell apart a bit anyway - the end was mucked up too)

Mikey may have been consistently rubbish - I agree with you there, but I thought the judges were supposed to judge based on the performance done in the skate - off alone and previous routines wiped clean?
Although, I have never seen them enforce that rule - its all about who's the better performer..:yawn:

I think even on that basis, Daniella's routine was significantly better (even though it lacked any real independent skating - kind of a running theme with her...
). Mikey's was just bleh...In that sort of situation though, the panel really had to get rid of Mikey for the sake of the competition anyway. I don't think in reality, they can entirely put their previous performances out of their minds. They should maybe be a bit more honest about that sometimes - though with Mikey I think even just on the skate-off, his elimination was fair.

Gary should have gone on performance. As the skate off is based sorely on that one performance and danny made a complete mess with the prop thought karen was crazy to even think about saving him. His skate off was a mess, get a grip karen.

So would I. It was also a harder prop. I enjoyed Keiron but how can you drop a microphone stand?
