I think it was the bad choice of music... Am sure they could have come up with something better than that

She got a high score and got through.

How did anything let her down?

well she got throug to next week, so it cant have been that bad

but I agree - it was never going to be 'spectacular' (in the words of Emma) with such laid back music. I did like it though

She still skated better than all the others.

I think they gave her a weaker routine to level out the leaderboard and quieten the it's a fix lot.
Three of the contestants tonight were given a character to perform, they were the stronger three. It's easier to get into the thing if you have to put on a character surely plus it makes it look more of a performance.

Agreed, after last weeks super performance I would of thought this week would of been far better than what we saw.

As a fan, I absolutely adore Hayley. This ''routine'' was my least favorite...but that's not because she did it poorly...mainly just because it was a little...not Hayley. Can't WAIT to see what she pulls out the bag next week ... I'm sure she will come fighting for her top spot...where she belongs!!!!!

As Robin (I think) said, she did exactly what was asked of her in that routine. It's always going to be the case that some get choreography with a bit more of a wow factor than others - this week it was Hayley's turn to get the routine filed in the T&D cabinet under 'cheesy and slow.'

I often wonder how other pairings would perform if they swapped the routines around. For sure, Hayley would have been lambasted for being too 'stage school' had she done Gary & Maria's Olympic routine, for example. Or Gary would have been shouted at by Jason as being 'Dull, dull, dull!' if he'd got this week's umbrella routine.

It's the luck of the draw, but I can't imagine any of the other celebs would have delivered Jai Ho like Hayley did.

I much preferred this to anything she's done. The cheesiness was gone, at last! I'm sure it'll be back in full force next week.

I must admit the music did let her down asfor me she was not that great tonight.

But anyway no harm done and all the "its a fix" moaners can chill now as tonight shows she not the one been given the best spot, best music, etc all the time.

No, they'll all be very disappointed! And it hasn't stopped some people saying that she was still over-marked for a mediocre routine and that IF she'd not been over-marked, then SHE would have been in the skate-off and not their favourite.

The music ought to be alright - perhaps if a bit faster with more verve. Its a classic dance number. But you need to dress up as a pair for the role, be given a character like Fred and Ginger ( everyone else was dressed up and almost everyone had a character) and be given a story and some funnier livelier content. There was very little story or wow factor in the choregraphy and what there was would have stopped them imposing any more logic or story of their own on it. It looked like a bid to make Hayley come second for a week and to make things look more competitive. The problem was nothing else was good enough really to justify a higher mark so they dropped marks on Daniella for her better but easier routine. Not sure Kieron had a good piece of apparatus either (broom would have been more useful and better? ) and Gary had an even worse routine.

Was she? I liked the routine it was gentle but well executed. You have to remember that there was a prop involved an UMBRELLA and the music suited the prop.

She got 5.5s and I cant believe scored less then Danielle to be honest because her performance was way better then danielles.

I dont understand why people are disappointed its bizarre.

She cant always be running around doing super dooper things. To run around fast and furious with an alive unbrella would not have worked.

I loved it really sweet.

It's what the others have to deal with most weeks whilst Hayley and Dan seems to get the music a wow factor skate can be performed to. Let's face it, last week the routine, although very crisp, was helped enormously by the rousing music. I don't think she has anything to complain about (and she seemed quite pleased)- probably takes the pressure off a bit if anything.

It was always going to be a stark contrast to last weeks performance. I think her scores were about right. Daniella was back on form tonight and deserved those few extra points

But skating wise there were no complaints, Hayley was brilliant in that respect.
The lack of Character to play was Hayley's problem, it was just a skating routine, there wasn't really nothing to perform except two lovers walking in the rain perhaps.....not exactly riveting stuff.
Danniella's routine was good because there was that Character, if she'd not had a character and was just skating with a chair it too would have possibly been dull.
She was able to perform her heart out and good luck to her.

I think Hayley has nothing to worry about, she has had wow routines while others have slipped by.
Plus it gives the DOI team the opportunity to big up next week as the week that Hayley battles for her place at the top.

It was a bad version of "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" with some flat notes in my opinion.

Having watched it again, I was maybe a bit harsh. It was better than mediocre. It was reasonably well skated for what it was.

But it was already a sickly sweet routine, and as performed by Hayley and Dan, it was so saccharine it was vomit-inducing...

That sort of routine just doesn't really work for them at all. It just brings out all the worst aspects of their performance style. I actually think the version of the song was probably the best thing about the whole performance tbh!

Still, it was a million miles better than Gary's!
