Emmerdale i love it and Hayley to win she is a better skater than Danniella.

No I didn't notice, simply because I hadn't heard of any of them until doi, and hadn't a clue what any of them did!

Mostly ex-soapstars, surely...?

Only Kieron actually seems to still have gainful employment...

LOL - of these five, I had only previously heard of Danniella Westbrook, and for all the wrong reasons.

But it's the same every year and I don't mind, as I watch for the pros more than the slebs anyway.

Still, it is remarkable that all the remaining contestants are soap stars. Well spotted, Katie!

For goodness sake, that's the way it is with acting. Why does every topic become so bitter?

What's bitter about that? Just noting that they're not really stop stars anymore, as all of them bar Kieron have now (or in the case of Danny, long since) departed their shows. Hardly a reason to like or dislike them, just an observation...

Oh well, Gary & Hayley can have fun on the DOI tour and Kieron can go back to his "gainful employment."

Good for Gary. It'll keep him off the street for a couple more months at least.

Exactly, Kieron has been in HO for a few years, and the others were in their respective shows for a couple of years or so. Fair enough, credit to Kieron for still working during the show, but there's no need to turn everything into a pro-Kieron, bash everyone else thread. I like Kieron but this kind of thing puts me off.

No, I don't see why some people have got so uber-sensitive about it either. It wasn't some pro-Kieron thing, it was just observing that 4 out of the 5 are ex-soapstars, which is quite an odd coincidence. Guess it's a touchy subject for some people, weirdly.

As I pointed out, I can't see why that's either a good or bad thing, it was just an observation.

I always think that is so unfair when one competitor is struggling to juggle both and the others can rehearse all day. Surely Hollyoaks must have known that Kieron was scheduled to do Dancing on Ice and could have reduced his filming commitments. These things are planned usually months and months in advance. It give the other out of work competitors such an advantage.

That was his choice, why should Hollyoaks reduce his filming commitments. He needed to give something up.

I don' t think anyone is going to give up a long-term well-paying full time job just to take part in a ice-skating contest tbh! Or at least if they do, they need their head seeing to... Kieron has given something up - all his free time, evenings, weekends and social life!

I do hope Hollyoaks can give him some proper time off for the next one or two weeks at least though. Hopefully from his Benidorm comment, he's got a bit of holiday booked this week at least!

Sorry as much as I like Kieron, he chose to do DOI, he was lucky, his job at Hollyoaks has been kept open. Gary Lucy had to give up The Bill. Actors on Eastenders have to give up or have a break in their contract. I always remember the actor who played Barry, had to give up EE to take part in a panto. Its a cut throat world.

Gary Lucy gave up The Bill to take part in DOI? Really??? That was pretty flipping stupid of him, especially given how little he actually seems to like skating...

I really don't believe that anyone would give up a well paid job in a soap to perform in a panto though! Even Barry from EastEnders!

Kieron's job hasn't been 'kept open' - he's been in the show just the same as normal. He just does all his training after finishing the day's filming.

I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Eastenders bosses wouldn't allow present cast members to appear in SCD or DOI, so they had to wait until they were ex-cast.

I don't watch Hollyoaks but it wa reported often enough on It Takes Two that Ricky Whittle had a demanding storyline while he was doing SCD this year so it can be done.

I think you've just got to have the right sort of personality which these people must have to drive them in their careers, while I like to come home for a nice cuppa after work.............obviously not the right stuff!

It will be very interesting to see where daniella fares next week now she has to actually skate!! I can seeing her being last on the leaderboard!! Though that said she'll probably get overmarked and come in top or second at least!
