Is it now a Gary vs Hayley competition ?!

With Kieron in the skate off this week (after pulling out a show-stopping performance) and Daniella being top of the leader board (meaning that the public still might not be supporting her...) is it a Gary vs Hayley competition (considering Hayley has never faced a skate off and Gary has only faced 1)

This is my thoughts, anyway.

Hmm, I think Gary's out next week to be honest. He'll be against Danniella and lose I think.

I agree. Sadly.

Clearly, inexplicably, Gary has massive public support, so there's no way he won't be in the final two now. It's totally guaranteed.

He may even beat Hayley in the final.

Don't say things like this to me!!!!!

If I/Hayley lost to something like that...I think that would be the WORST thing ever!

If she's gonna lose to someone...let it be Kieron!

Lol, I agree! But I'm just being honest - Gary has proven vast public support, even when he's bottom of the leaderboard, with an awful routine, badly executed, to a terrible song, with no performance or conviction. Hayley's still an unknown quantity. So I really do think there's a possibility that Gary could beat Hayley.

He is the strongest skater and does the best lifts. Hayley is very good at being pulled around by her partner being light and nimble and having good dancing skills. Not sure she would live with Gary on skating ability.

The thing about this series is that (Hayley apart) it's been anything but predictable.

Sharron looked odds on for an early bath after the first couple of shows but lasted longer than anyone would have suspected.

Emily looked popular while she wasn't getting the scores but ended up in the bottom two and out as soon as her scores and position picked up.

Three weeks ago, it looked a given that Danny would be bottom two; he was stuck on a score of 17, he was second bottom on the leaderboard and he'd already been in two skate offs despite better leaderboard positions. He wasn't.

Mikey looked untouchable for weeks. He sailed through each show no matter what his position on the leaderboard then suddenly he found himself in a skate off and out.

This week Daniella looked a cert for the skate off. She'd been in two consecutive skate offs and her confidence and, therefore, her performances had suffered accordingly. She came out and performed with sparkle and topped the leaderboard going straight through to next week.

Who knows what might happen next week? Kieron and Daniella look favourites for the skate off but you never know.

Fair point. It has actually been quite an exciting series in that respect. I hope there's a few more upsets to come...

Gary is clearly extremely popular in the public vote. Hayleys is still unclear, it could be the leaderboard that's saving her some weeks, we dont know yet. Daniella has had fanbase problems but those have been weeks she has been quite poor or has had a poor routine. Gary seems to be the only one at this point who can do quite badly on the leaderboard and still get through...

I would love to see that. Not because i particularly want Gary to win but the outrage on this forum would be extremely entertaining. (Childish I know!)

One factor you have to bear in mind is that come semis & final a lot more people vote & this can change things. Look at last year in the semi final - Coleen had been topping the public vote & her support thankfully collapsed and Jess' vote went up dramatically after struggling & being in skate offs.

Didn't Jess top the vote?

Gary would (and should) have been out this week, but if someone isn't actually in the bottom two nothing can be done about it.

It was clear from the vast majority and the judges that they would have preferred and even expected Gary to go over both last night's actual bottom two.

I can only be a silly fan vote thing as it's not down to his ultra boring performances on the ice. It happened the same with that Nolan woman well over-staying her welcome to the point of absurdity.

Better people go home and a hopeless popular one stays.

The usual popularity contest instead of what they are meant to be judged on.

Yes but as in this case, that is after the damage has been done.

Gary does seem to have inherited the Mikey / Dr Hillary mantle, doesn't he?

Only they were good enough not to cause us to lose any really good performers, while Gary has already got rid of at least one, and will probably do another next week...

I can't see him going before the final though - that's the worrying thing. And if he makes the final, who knows how far he could go.

I think Gary will only be in the skate-off if he makes a cock-up. His public support is too strong for anything else to put him there.

Skate-off this week will be Kieron and Danniella. Who goes will be anyone's guess.

A few weeks ago Mikey was, to some people, a dead cert for the final because his massive public support, demonstrated by the fact that he'd never been in a skate off, was supposedly going to guarantee it. Now where is he?
I think the only certainty is that Hayley will be in the final, because even if by some chance she's in the skate off next week, she would be saved over any of the remaining skaters.
Who goes out of the rest comes down to the best routine on the night, IMO. If Gary's performance and placing isn't better this week, it could easily be him.

If Gary is bottom of judges leaderboard in the semis it will be difficult (but not impossible) for him to avoid skate off. However, I don't think it's guaranteed as solo skate element will suit him more than say Daniella and judges have never been over generous with Kieron's scores.

I dont think Gary is that popular with the public. He might have come 2nd last night but Coleen was top of the public votes every week last year then it got to the semis and she was last
