She's always been annoying. I've always felt that her music could stand on its own without her often outrageous (well just silly really) behaviour.

I don't like her as a person, but I like some of her songs. Mainly her 80's stuff. I don't like her songs from the 00's apart from '4 Minutes'.

I still like her a lot, but I agree that she should stop trying to compete with the younger stars. She doesn't need to prove anything anymore; she should just concentrate on making a great pop album instead of keeping up with the current sound. I think the lukewarm response to Hard Candy showed that's not what people want from her.

I don't really care what she's like as a person. I don't know her personally and there's no chance I ever will, so what difference does it make? Although I hate it when celebrities try to fake being 'nice', so I'd rather she was just herself - good or bad.

It wasn't meant to be an excuse, just something to maybe think about rather than just assume because James Morrison had a bad experience with her means she's like that with everyone.

Madonna is human after all, as I said, she isn't a stupid woman, she's had decades of experience in the industry and taking time to talk to every person who comes over "just to say Hello" could have been detrimental to her career. Can't blame one of the most famous women in the world for being slightly wary of a stranger coming over to talk and to not be wanting something from her. It may not have been nice for JM, but one example is hardly a fair way of judging what she must be like as a person all the time.

Madonna was great in the 90s and her come back for Confessions.

I really disliked the tracks on Hard Candy she needs to make an album with a mix of Ambient/Electronica/Trance

listen to this remix of What it feels like for a girl

Above & Beyond a trance act produced that

The only thing i dislike about Madonna is her personality

I love her music, her videos, in fact almost everything she's released, but the fact is she comes across as a total bitch behind the scenes.

Even her official documentaries (Truth & Dare/Secret) show her as being a total cow to people at times. Sometimes i think she's just being sarcastic, but others not so much. Aside from that i think shes great

Having said that she does usually come across really well in interviews and in public. Just not so much backstage.

I loved Music and then I really loved American Life and Confessions. American Life is a great album, I think it's a much more solid and coherent work than Music, despite the mixed reaction it received.

Hard Candy had a couple of songs I really liked (including Heartbeat, which I love), but overall it all felt a bit uninspired; I don't think she worked that well with Timberland, and the comparison to Nelly Furtado who had just done the same was not at all flattering.

I'm still a huge fan. The amount of ageism that surrounds her amazes me: as long as she's producing tunes that people like, then why should it be such a big issue? She certainly has a far better track record of keeping the hits coming than most other acts, many of which get a far better reaction in the media, so I think the fact she's not at her peak isn't as important as some like to make out.

Lots of you have said "I don't like her as a person" but you don't actually know her.

I've never understood where the idea that Madonna is this horrible bitch comes from. I don't know her either, but in interviews she comes across as funny and friendly. You rarely hear her speaking negatively of other celebrities.
Other celebrities say mean things in interviews, but are given a free pass, but she is always labelled a bitch.
Maybe she can be bitchy in private, but you don't get much of that in her interviews.
There are people who know her well who speak highly of her including most people she has worked with.
I don't think the fact that she brushed off someone she doesn't know shows she isn't a nice person. Who of us wouldn't do the same if some stranger comes up to us asking for something?
I think a lot of it is she hasn't suffered some tragic downfall like becoming a drug addict so people don't feel sorry for her. She's had breakups but she's not one to get in the media and be like poor me, everyone feel sorry for me. So the public feels she is cold and hard because she doesn't do that.

It's interesting how Madonna fans all want different things from her. She has some done some amazing dance albums, but I'm kind of bored with the whole dance and electronic thing. On her next record, I'd like to see her stretch herself and go outside her comfort zone a little and not do a dance record. She has become so associated with just dance it's becoming a cliche.
I'd like to see her try some pop/rock songs with more live instruments just for a change.

Not the biggest fan of her but some of her songs are OK. I do have to admit though that she is an icon and hopefully will be remembered as such.

Ive been a fan since the 80's. I agree that her music has declined in recent years and I think she is having an identity crisis right now, and is not adapting well to aging at all!

Her last album was crap IMO, sadly the first time I went to see her on tour was the Sweet and Sticky tour.Ive always wanted to see her but the show was boring IMO, I got the distinct impression she waspast her prime.

Interestingly I saw Lady Gaga supporting take That (Im NOT a fan of hers) but she definately had that early Madonna vibe. The major difference is Lady Gaga is a pretentious madam IMO, at least madonna had humour about herself...
