Considering they list The Dresden Dolls and Cyndi Lauper as hetrosexual bands I would assume that no it is not real.

However it has reminded me about The Dresden Dolls.

It's possibly real, because there are a lot of cult Christian groups in America like this it seems.

Funny list, though... Jonas Brothers? I thought they promoted purity and all that garbage?

I'm pretty sure it's not real:

HAHA! I love what they put in brackets...

Elton John(really gay)
Ted Nugent (loincloth)
George Michael (texan)
Marilyn Manson (dark gay)
The Butchies (lizbians) - can't say I know any lizbians!
Toby Keith (cowboy)

Jonas Brothers... Aren't they meant to be the most Christian people out there? If you don't think they are Christian, someone should tell their penises.

They have Frank Sinatra on the "gay bands" list - er, isn't he dead? And didn't he marry several times? Hardly gay!

What a load of rubbish.

Laughable.

They seem to have missed Adam Lambert off-Adam will be appalled.

As would I imagine Liza Minelli, Barbara Streaisand and several other singers who have large gay followings and are very supportive of gay causes.

Indeed with this in mind, is Ga Ga on there (I did'nt notice).

Presumably Beyonce should also be on there given that she is married to Jay-Z (also on the list????) and has just appeared in the Telephone video with Ga Ga.

The fact that Jay-Z and PDiddy on are on the list (two hugely powerful and influential BLACK men) suggests to me that there is more that homophobia gong on here.

Very sad in 2010 and more to be pitied than anything else.

Having Kate Bush down on the gay list for (kissing girls) is hilarious, the obviously put it in as part of the joke

I think some people are taking this hoax way too seriously

I love the "Morrissey(?questionable?)"
Most of my favourite bands are on the gay list. Ah well.
I notice the 'safe' list is considerably shorter

This site's been around for a while, I think it's obvious that it's a clever (and quite funny) parody once you've looked around enough but it's quite convincing at first. It's unfortunate that there's still people who genuinely think these kinds of things though.

The Pet Shop Boys used to be on the list but they were taken off after they got annoyed about it and posted this message on their website back in January 2007. http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/news/-/200701 They clearly thought it was real.

Argh, I've just realised that link directs to the wrong news story. Click on the story on the right entitled "LOVE" to see the one I'm talking about.
