Sport Relief Singles

What a shame that the official "Sport Relief" singles do so badly. The first, "Your Song" by Elton John and Alessandro Safina peaked at No.4 but soon disappeared. In 2004, Rachel Steven's "Some Girls" only got to No.2, as did Leona back in 2008 with "Better in Time". Only McFly managed a No.1 with "Don't Stop Me Now".

That brings us to this year. Somehow, Robbie's "Morning Sun" only peaked at No.60. 60?!!! What a waste!! A decent single could raise so much money. Must. Try. Harder.

There's another song out this year - you might have heard it on Radio 1. It at least topped the iTunes Comedy chart. It's "Mumatron Song" and you can buy it here:
http://bit.ly/aGqv8W ....It's 79p and 50% of all sales go to Sport Relief. It's by Sean Rumsey and http://www.***********.co.uk

At least its fun!!

I think Robbie's song was a poor choice, it's just not that great of a song. Think people are just buying the album too.

Sport Relief is overshadowed, in terms of it being compared to Comic Relief. I see less big names supporting it too. The singles seem to be always leftover tracks from albums too, not specifically for charity.

Hopefully Mumatron does well.

You think number 2 in the charts is doing 'badly'?

When it comes to charity, yeah, because people always remember you for that. It's like what happened to The Saturdays last year, Barry Islands in the Stream got to the top, but they didn't. Girls Aloud/Sugababes went to #1 the last time, then the Proclaimers one did too. Then of course, there was Is This the Way to Amarillo, I think they got their hopes up after that one.

Yeah sure it is.

Nothing to do with it being a boost to flog more albums etc.
