PVR80 sound but no picture

My Digihome PVR80 (T825) has suddenly stopped supplying picture from tuners and HDD , sound is loud and clear. Done resets, reboots, changed scart lead , changed from AV1 to AV2 on TV, connected via composite. When I play a recording no picture but sound OK . It has now stopped resetting so I can't format HDD.Also play counter on display is not accurately indicating playback time,i.e. run recording for 30 seconds, display shows 00:01. Any Ideas?

You mention recordings, but how is live tv? Does that exhibit similar problems? And what do you mean by "it has now stopped resetting"?

Depending on your responses to the above I'd tend to think either the HDD or PSU is faulty.

Thank you for replying.

Live TV is also sound but no picture .
Resetting: Switch off/on at mains, "starting"shows for a short while then display goes blank for 10 seconds then display shows channel info.
Reboot: Switch on holding OK button same as above.
Switch on holding Power button same as above.

I suspect that it is the PSU as the HDD runs all normal funtions bar the picture . The counter on the display not being in sync with the actual playback time is a weird one.

I will try to find a spare /repair and try to isolate the prob as I want to upgrade to High Def model but waiting for HD transmissions in my area in 2011 and consequent reduction in current cost.

Will report back if I fix it.

Thanks again

First thing to look at would be the capacitors on the PSU board, as those are one of the most common failures on these PVRs. Hopefully you'll find one that shows visible signs of being faulty (i.e. domed, or even exploded), and that would be a relatively cheap and easy fix.

This is a common problem. It is usually caused by several broken pins on the scart socket itself.

Yep! If you're getting sound, it is UNLIKELY there's a fault ......

Try the other SCART? The RCA video socket?
