With all this obsession I've gained for the Karl & Todd storylines lately it's hard to think back to the last 12 months, but anyway here's who I'd like to see win (for what it's worth... eh nothing ) :

BEST COMEDY PERFORMANCE

EastEnders: Shane Richie (Alfie Moon) - Since this is based on the past year & not the recent storyline

BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE

Coronation Street: David Neilson (Roy Cropper) - I never liked him before but felt really sorry for him during the ‘morning after’ scenes. I thought they were really well done.

BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE FROM A YOUNG ACTOR OR ACTRESS

Coronation Street: Sam Aston (Chesney Brown) - He’s just a wee doll & one of the few child actors I like.

SOAP BITCH OF THE YEAR

EastEnders: Charlie Brooks (Janine Evans) - I loved when she brought Barry’s ashes back in the shortbread carrier bag & played the grieving widow.

BEST EXIT

Emmerdale: Sheree Murphy (Tricia Dingle)

BEST NEWCOMER

Coronation Street: Wendi Peters (Cilla Brown)

BEST ON-SCREEN PARTNERSHIP

Coronation Street: Suranne Jones & Simon Gregson (Karen & Steve McDonald)

BEST STORYLINE

Family Affairs: Chrissy fools her family into believing her daughter
is ill
– Yes I was the one who started tuning into FA’s again during this storyline

SPECTACULAR SCENE OF THE YEAR

Doctors: Car Crash On Quarry Edge – If this is the episode that killed off David & The receptionist.

BEST SINGLE EPISODE

Coronation Street: Karen and Steve's wedding

The people I would like to win awards this year are:

Best Actor – Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald, Corrie)
Best Actress – Barbara Knox (Rita Sullivan, Coro St)
Sexiest Male – Ben Freeman (Scott Windsor, Emmerdale)
Sexiest Female – Jodi Albert (Debbie Dean, Hollyoaks)
Villan of the Year - Tracy Barlow (Coro St)
Best Comedy Performance - Tony Audenshaw (Bob Hope, Emmerdale)
Best Dramatic Performance - Kazia Pelka (Chrissy Costello, Family Affairs)
Soap Bitch of the Year – Kate Ford (Tracy Barlow, Coro St)
Best Exit- Sherrie Murphy (Trisha Dingle, Emmerdale)
Best Newcomer – Wendi Peters (Cilla Brown, Coro St)
Best On Screen partnership – Suranne Jones and Simon Gregson (Steve/Karen, Corrie)
Spectacular Scene of the Year – The Storm (Emmerdale)
Best Storyline – Peter’s bigamy (Coro St)
Best Single Episode – Steve and Karen’s Wedding (Coro St)

If Kate Ford doesn’t win Bitch of the Year it is a FIX!

I seriously think Bitch of the Year has to go to Janine or it's a fix. There's no way on earth there's a bigger bitch.

Okay, out of the ones they've chosen, though I certainly don't agree with some of these at ALL, I'd go for this:

BEST COMEDY PERFORMANCE: Emmerdale: Tony Audenshaw (Bob Hope)
BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE: Emmerdale: Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle)
BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE FROM A YOUNG ACTOR OR ACTRESS: Coronation Street: Sam Aston (Chesney Brown)
SOAP BITCH OF THE YEAR: EastEnders: Charlie Brooks (Janine Evans)
BEST EXIT: Emmerdale: Sheree Murphy (Tricia Dingle)
BEST NEWCOMER: Coronation Street: Wendi Peters (Cilla Brown)
BEST ON-SCREEN PARTNERSHIP: Coronation Street: Suranne Jones & Simon Gregson (Karen & Steve McDonald)
BEST STORYLINE: Coronation Street: Tracy tricks Roy and attempts to ruin Karen and Steve's wedding
SPECTACULAR SCENE OF THE YEAR: Emmerdale: The Storm
BEST SINGLE EPISODE: Emmerdale: The Storm

As well as:

Best Actor - Emmerdale: Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle)
Best Actress - Emmerdale: Emma Atkins (Charity Tate)
Best Villain - Eastenders - Charlie Brooks (Janine Evans)

If Emmerdale don't win SEVERAL, there is no justice whatsoever. The ONLY thing Eastenders deserves to win this year is something for Charlie Brooks, but that's it.
I don't see how anyone can deny Emmerdale best episode or spectacular scene. Both preferably . Though it won't happen. Likewise Mark Charnock as Marlon has put in the best and strongest performances bar none this year. If they pick ONE like the last few years, someone really needs shooting, I'm sick of all this sharing between Corrie and Eastenders when Emmerdale is often just as good, and is far better than Enders...

By the way, where did you manage to get this list from?

And things that I disagree with:

The nominations for Best Comedy Performance are utterly pathetic. I like Bob, but is he the funniest in Emmerdale? What about Laurel? Or Val? And more importantly, why is no one from Corrie nominated there? Surely Fiz, Norris, Cilla, would all be worthy winners?

WHY is Natalie Cassidy up for "Best Dramatic Performance From A Young Actor"? Surely she qualifies as an adult now, and if she can be included, can't Tina O'Brien? And what about Charley Webb? Ridiculous...

Chastity Dingle should be nominated and probably win Best Newcomer. Instead they've put Daz up instead

I can only go by the stuff I've actually watched but my choices would be ...

BEST COMEDY PERFORMANCE
Hollyoaks: Alex Carter (Lee Hunter) - I haven't seen much of the others, and he's not too bad, although I'd of loved to have seen Perky Kirky for Corrie nominated.
BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE
Coronation Street: David Neilson (Roy Cropper) - Brilliant
BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE FROM A YOUNG ACTOR OR ACTRESS
Coronation Street: Sam Aston (Chesney Brown) - Best child actor I've seen in years, he's scenes with Fizz yesterday were heartbreaking.
SOAP BITCH OF THE YEAR
EastEnders: Charlie Brooks (Janine Evans) - I haven't watched it, but as she's murdered someone, she should win.
BEST EXIT
Emmerdale: Sheree Murphy (Tricia Dingle)
BEST NEWCOMER
Coronation Street: Wendi Peters (Cilla Brown) - Although I'd have preferred to see Sam Ashton, Chesney, nominated.
BEST ON-SCREEN PARTNERSHIP
Coronation Street: Suranne Jones & Simon Gregson (Karen & Steve McDonald) - Brilliant duo, play off each other perfectly..
BEST STORYLINE
Coronation Street: Tracy tricks Roy and attempts to ruin Karen and Steve's wedding
SPECTACULAR SCENE OF THE YEAR
Emmerdale: The Storm
BEST SINGLE EPISODE
Coronation Street: Karen and Steve's wedding

Well these are my views on the nominees, I only watch 4 soaps (Corrie, Emmerdale, Family Affairs and Hollyoaks)

Best Comedy Performance

Don’t really like any of them, but id go for Bob Hope.

Best Dramatic Performance

I think Kazia Pelka’s performance was outstanding, so she deserves this award.

Best Dramatic Perrformance by a young actor or actress

Not a big fan of any of them, but Sam Aston is a good actor!

Soap Bitch of the Year

She drugged Roy, pretended they slept together and that he was the father of her baby, sold her baby, changed her mind again and ruined the Mcdonald wedding – only Tracy Barlow should win this award.

Best Exit

I’d like to see Sheree Murphy win this, it was such a sad storyline.

Best Newcomer

Wendi Peters - I didn’t like her at first but she’s grown on me and is a great addition to the show

Best On Screen Partnership

Id love it if Steve and Karen won this, they are the best couple in soap!

Best Storyline

The serial killer storyline in Hollyoaks dragged on for too long. I enjoyed the Family Affairs one but it’s between the 2 Corrie ones for me. I think id go for the Peter Bigamy storyline as I enjoyed that slightly more than the Tracy storyline.

Spectacular Scene of the Year

Out of the 3 ive seen in this category I think the Emmerdale storm was the best.

Best Single Episode

The Corrie Wedding has been the best episode of soap so far this year so I’ll go for that!

Sexiest Male and Female

EE’s Jessie Wallace and Nigel Harman are bound to win these awards, but personally id go for Debbie Dean in Hollyoaks and Ben Freeman from Emmerdale.

Best Actor

Id either go for Chris Gascoyne or Simon Gregson

Best Actress

Barbara Knox, if not her either Suranne Jones or Leah (Zoe Tate) from Emmerdale

villain of the Year

Tracy Barlow for same reasons as Soap Bitch

Best Soap

Coronation Street has been by far the best soap this year!

Drifter – I got the list from a friend of mine.

I agree that someone from Corrie should be up for the comedy performance, Kirk won last year. Also I would prefer Chastity won Best Newcomer rather than any of the 4 nominated!

I think even though Corrie deserve and probably will get all the big awards this year, i really do think Emmerdale deserves something this year as they too have been putting the effort in for their viewers!

Rather then EE, which i believe is only on because the TV execs want to punish us for liking reality tv

It would be nice to see Corrie and Emmerdale both walk off with loads of awards this time.

Ive noticed Emmerdale normally only wins 1 award (2 at the most).

Who does everyone think will get Best Soap.

Coro deserves to sweep up.

And I don't watch Emmer' any more but BEN FREEMAN is so underrated as a god.

But as we know, the best looker category might as well be renamed Dodgy Old Man from Eastenders category

Why is it a stupid thread? Its an upcoming soap event which many people have views on.

And if its so stupid why are you reading and indeed replying to it?

Here's hoping he gets it. Why Natalie Cassidy is nominated is beyond me, surely she's now an adult actress?

BEST DRAMATIC PERFORMANCE FROM A YOUNG ACTOR OR ACTRESS

Coronation Street: Sam Aston (Chesney Brown)
EastEnders: Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Jackson)
Emmerdale: Luke Tittensor (Darran ˜Daz" Eden)
Hollyoaks: Gemma Atkinson (Lisa Hunter)

Sam Aston is an AMAZING actor, unbelievably talented for someone of his age. He definitely deserves that award! Natalie Cassidy is also a terrific actress but doesn't exactly count as 'young' anymore, does she? She must be at least 20.

I agree with you. But his best scenes in corrie were probably shown after people had stopped voting. That is the only reason I can think of as to why he didn't win tonight.

I'm surprised there's no category for best Imported soap.

After all, the likes of Home and Away, Neighbours etc still form part of the British Soap institution.

I also feel sorry for the smaller soaps like Family Affiars and Hollyoaks. I don't watch these, but it's so obvious the high profile soaps will walk away with it, that they know they're only put in the nominations as a token gesture,

Ah well, should still be entertaining anyway!

Matt

He was in the panel nominated category, so the public had nothing to do with that one.

Complete JOKE, though. Natalie is great, but she hasn't been needed to put in any really noteworthy performances this past year, AND she should class as an adult now.

Why are there Panel voted catagories? All the catagories should be voted for by the public.
