I may not be observant, but I thought that the judges save was just a one off last year. They had so many strong contestants last year, I can see why they introduced it. I really can't see the judges using it this year, unless Crystal or Mike mess up one week. The others I consider expendable. Any ideas or opinions on who it should be used on and if it really is worth having?

If I had paid my hard earned money on a public vote and they reversed it I would insist on a refund.

Voting is free, that's why you get such high numbers and the power vote is so strong, during the Season 7 finale (and probably other years) people were firing off votes into the thousands during the time the lines were open

I hope if Didi is ever in danger then they use it on her but i hope it doesn't come to that

I can see them using it on Mike or Katie.

I'd save it in case Siobhan needed it, the judges should do the same

I think you are right. She is the only one I really like this year. I can add her to my list of people I can see the judges saving. I think with the coming theme, sorry don't know how to post a spoiler, some of the favourites may need it.

I know what the next theme is, and I agree that some of the favourites may struggle, but hopefully it's still too early on for Siobhan to need the judges' save. Tim's still around, after all

I'd say they'd use it if Crystal or Siobhan mess up, they'd just let the others go tbh... I'd deffo use it on those two, also I'd save Didi or Lee! Although I think Crystal and Siobhan are safe next week, they can put their own spin on anything, hopefully they're the final 2

Yeah, right at the beginning just before David performed, Simon explained it, can be used up to Top 5, all judges must agree (to do what the producers tell them to )

I'm guessing it would be used on Siobhan, Crystal, Casey, Lee and maybe Michael. It wouldn't shock me if they used it on Aaron, I think he's fairly dreadful, but he did come from the American Idol Experience thingy, so they'll want to keep him around for a while.

Won't under any circumstances be used on Tim, Katie or Paige

Yeah, I roughly agree with you on who they'd use it on; definitely Siobhan, Crystal and Lee, probably Casey if he is in the bottom two in the next couple of weeks, after that I'm not sure they would unless he picks up his game (though actually they used it on Matt Giraud who was never really at the front of the pack, so maybe they would). I'd be surprised if they used it on Michael or Aaron, and if they use it on Tim/Katie/Andrew/Paige that is just a pointless waste of a save. I'm really not sure about Didi, I can't work out if the judges like her or not.

I think the theme was changed as the producers must have realised it would put the favourites in danger whilst the one they want to get rid of (ie Tim) would have probably sailed through with an acoustic version of a Justin Bieber song. I don't think the judges will use the save early in the finals. I think the producers will start choosing the themes to manipulate the results. I wonder if we will have an acoustic theme or an acapella theme this year. I doubt we will see the Motown theme or Disco theme this year. If we do, that save will definately come in handy.

Does anyone know if the finalists have to perform the song they sang the night before in their bid to be saved? Can they just perform a song of their choice like they do on the XF? If someone chose the wrong song for them, I don't see the point in repeating that performance.

Lacey sang a different song in her 'survival' number to the one she sang the night before

I think they get to sing something they've previously done on the show - but not necessarily that week's song, but I could be completely wrong.

They could use it on anyone. I didn't think highly of Matt last year but they chose to give him another chance. He was alright, but he was never going to win it.

Simon said the other day that there was one of the bottom 3 worth saving - i assume he meant Paige, if that's the case then it will probably be her who is saved as i can see her being bottom one week.

Can't fathom who exactly was voting for Lacey over Lily and Katelyn, just for her to get dumped out the following week anyway, but it seemed disrespectful the way the judges huddled in conversation instead of watching her performance properly.

Lacey was actually evil though (calm down, I just mean in a comedy "reality tv" evil sort of way) One week during the elimination - the looks she was giving the other contestants! Hilarious. Sort of like the way Elizabeth Berkley looks at Gina Gershon in Showgirls, right before pushing her down the stairs. Or that film Drop Dead Gorgeous. Didn't buy the kooky hair dye and eye make-up for a second. Total self-absorbed wannabe with evil lurking in her eyes!

But the judges were totally disrespectful. As if they were having a real conversation and the order of favouritism isn't decided in some midweek production meeting.
