There's a song I remember that was on the 'b' side of a tape I had 12 years ago. I think it was voice of the beehive but I may be completely wrong.

Anyway, the song goes:

say goodbye to this girl baby
kiss goodnight to these lips sweetheart
nothing ever lasts forever...

I know you never meant to cause me pain
but you went and cheated all the same
but baby can't you see
that you and me were not meant to be

that's about all I can remember and I have googled my heart out and can't find it at all.

If anyone else remembers it or better yet knows where I can find find it please let me know. It's one of those songs that's sprung in my head and I really want to find it!

I can picture the album cover and it was a white cover with three girls with with very 80s hair.

Anyone??

voice of the beehive were 2 girls so i'm dont think its them

3 girls? banaarama? there were quite a few failed bananarama clones in the 80s... could be one of them... a B-side from one of them will be well hard to identify. sorry - can't be of more use.

The Flirts? http://www.amazon.com/10-Cents-Dance...f=cm_lmf_img_9

As irishguy said, Voice Of The Beehive were only 2 (sisters), Strawberry Switchblade were 2, Fuzzbox were 4, The Graces were 3 girls but they only did one album and the cover isn't white, pic: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_O852wsIW7L...ew+-+Front.jpg

Banarama's Greatest Hits album is white with 3 girls with 80s hair, but lyrics for them would probably be easily googleable.

Definitely wasn't bananarama... but thanks for trying! It was the most random song and I doubt many people will have heard it nevermind remember it.

Gah! So annoying! I know I had it on tape but think my dad threw out all the stuff stored in his attic so it's long gone.

I will find it one day though... or I'll re-write it and sing it myself till someone sues me for copywrite (or terrible singing)!

But thanks for the reply

Oh and it may have been two girls - we're going back a loooooong time and I only have a vague recollection of the cover.

Can you remember if they sounded English or American?

Aaargh! Thinking about it I'm 98% sure it was a three girl band. And they had a one hit wonder which may or may not have been a cover of something. And that song was the b-side of that song. I'm kind of resigned to never find it but hoping someone somewhere knows the one I mean!

And thanks so much guys for trying, I appreciate it so much (and am going to look up those bands and find myself some new songs to stick in my head)

Definitely English. But then were Voice of the Beehive English?? I may be completely wrong. Sorry - I'm being rubbish! They had the same sound. The more I think of it the more I remember they had a top ten hit then vanished into obscurity and I was so sad!

I will try and remember more words and post them - I can probably sing the whole song in my head (out of tune)!

hmmm the wikipedia entry for the graces lists a B-side as being called "Here Comes My Baby"... but having the word "baby" hardly means its the song you're looking for.

checking lay down your arms on youtube now. thanks for the memories, moon unit

That IS the chorus! And in fact the whole song. I've just sang it through and it's:

Say goodbye to this girl baby
Say goodbye to this girl darling
kiss goodnight to these lips sweetheart
nothing ever last forever...

the the main verse is

I know you never meant to cause me pain
but you went and cheated all the same

then something else....

but baby can't you see, that you and me were not meant to be...

say goodbye etc...

I'm so sorry - it's an awful b side song to probably an even worse a side song. And I am convinced now it wasn't voice of the beehive at all but was maybe something like 'monster something' or something? So sorry, if I had a clue I would find it but it's a song from so long ago and the only people that will remember it are probably the people that sang it... and they're probably trying to forget it even though I think it's great!

This is tricky, I want to crack it now!

The only thing I can find for the monster bit is:

Girl Monstar were an all female rock band from Melbourne, Australia (1988-1993).

Girl Monstar formed in 1988 and both of their singles "Surfin On A Wave Of Love/He's Hell" and "Joe Cool" topped the Australian Independent charts. They released their debut album in 1992 titled Monstereo Delicio.

I'm sorry! It's been annoying me for months!

At least you don't have the tune running through your head... small comfort I know

An article on forgotten 80s one hit wonders:

I hate it when I hear an obscure hit from the 1980s and cannot, for the life of me, remember who the artist was who recorded it. I'm a guy who lives and breathes music, especially from the 80s, so I don't like to be stumped, but I draw a blank more often than you would think. I decided to put together this playlist of 80s one hit wonders that have stumped me in the past. They will stump me no longer! I bet you've forgotten many of these songs too, but the memories will come flooding back as soon as you hear them. The playlist includes pop hits, new wave, R&B and hip-hop by artists who scored big with a single song in the 80s and are now on the verge of being forgotten forever. Don't let that happen! Let me know how many of these you can remember and what you would add to the list.

1. The Promise - When In Rome

2. Turn Up The Radio - Autograph

3. Cars With The Boom - L'Trimm

4. Birth, School, Work, Death - The Godfathers

5. Feel It Again - Honeymoon Suite

6. Romeo's Tune - Steve Forbert

7. SAUSALITO SUMMERNIGHT - Diesel

8. Nobody - Sylvia

9. China - Red Rockers

10. Just Got Lucky - JoBoxers

11. Whirly Girl - Oxo

12. Cry - Godley & Creme

13. Call To The Heart - Giuffria

14. Welcome To The Boomtown - David and David

15. Digging Your Scene - The Blow Monkeys

16. Shake You Down - Gregory Abbott

17. The Rain - Oran "Juice" Jones

18. Let's Go All The Way - Sly Fox

19. Beats So Lonely - Charlie Sexton

20. Don't Disturb This Groove - The System

21. Living In A Box - Living In A Box

22. Love Changes (Everything) - Climie Fisher

I was so hopeful there but they're mainly boys. And I may have been misleading. It was probably 90s more than 80s. It's just that most of the music I remember from the 90s was from the 80s! I would guess it would be earlyish 90s and they would have been about 18-25ish.

For some reason I'm convinced the band name started with an M now. But I could just be imagining that!

Wait! I think, their actual song may have been a cover of voice of the beehive. That doesn't help much I know but having called/annoyed all my friends and sung (badly) to them that's what I've come up with!

Now I just need to find the 'say goodbye song'. I can't believe I've been trying to remember this for YEARS and posted on here and have almost found it!

Album cover: http://img268.imageshack.us/i/68575804.jpg/ and it's white!

The lyrics don't match though!

Is it the one?

No

But the name sounds really familiar and it was probably before they got bit. Am searching and searching and can't find anything like the song I'm thinking of.

So close...!!!

I'm convinced it was them. I will find their website and hunt them down and make them send me the song!
