And yes, re: Sunday People, what a Dirty Dirty Den that man is. Still, whatever floats your boat. And I guessing he's a single man, so he's free to do what he likes. Far more interesting tho is Grantham's off-guard comments regarding his fellow castmates. Meow, he really doesn't like Kat the Dog does he?”

The bits I've seen of him on the programme he has looked incredibly bored and wishing he was somewhere else. Love to be a fly on the wall when he goes into work next

It always amazes me the way people keep responding to comments made by trolls.
Ignore them and they'll soon go away

This is an excellent anti-troll device

Ignore lists are used for those people who's messages you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, those messages posted by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread.

Fine. Yes LB should be sacked she has had numerous chances to make EE watchable but has staggered from one crisis to another and as looks likely we are going to have not one but two who's the daddy storylines. Go now LB before EE sinks below a sea of mediocrity

I thought the mini-Dennis and Sharon Ugandan variations were very amusing. Since they became 'family' again it isn't so interesting. Roll on that massacre.

and wasn't there a 'whose baby is it anyway' story line a while back? Grant or the guy who was gay whose name I've forgotten and they had both slept with Tiffany... Irene's son?

For about the past 12 months there's been numerous posts on the BBC pure soap boards from viewers who have complained about the state EE's has got during LB's reign.

Funnily enough most of them get deleted. And most of them are constructive.

People have asked for a live chat/ or for the hosts to pass on our messages with her to ask for answers to some of the ridiculous storylines but needless to say this hasn't happened. It's a shame as it may make people (including myself) respond a bit more positively to her. The BBC have had numerous chats/ question & answer sessions with actors & production staff of other soaps such as Doctors & Neighbours so it's not unheard of.

Eastenders has had bad storylines lately, but with any producer that could be controlling eastenders at anytime could not prevent this. Get Over It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Mate, speaking as a die-hard EE fan since the day it started pretty much, it has become absolute nonsense almost since the day that woman took over as EP.

It has become worse again in the last 4 months, but every episode these days seems to throw up new levels of awfulness. I cannot think of one decent storyline in the last few years.

LB has been given free reign and she has lacerated the cast and brought in no-mark characters like Spencer in their place, and now she shows her desperation by trying to get back older characters.

I seem to recall that she pretty much announced that she wanted to make EE more like Hollyoaks (who the hell in the BBC gave her the job then??) and I can't say whether she's succeeded because I've never seen it. However, the average poster on the BBC EE message board writes in txt spk and is obsessed with the actor who plays Dennis Jr., so I'd imagine she has succeeded in captivating her target audience.

IMHO, Letitia Dean's decision to leave, when she must be aware that it'll be doubly difficult for her to get another part now, it telling. Everything about EE these days is tired, boring, regurgitated nonsense.

To answer your question, the reaon why I continue to watch (most episodes) is because I am waiting for the day that someone fires LB and EE finds its feet again.

My fear now - and it is a fear , I am a HUGE fan - is that its too late, especially with Sharon leaving, and that EE will end up getting cancelled while LB goes off to direct Grange Hill.

Letitia Dean is probably smart to get off a sinking ship while she can....

Ok, she got rid of the Apeman, but what else has she done apart from make the soap more wooden than the wooden tops.

Maybe they could offer her a job at cbeebies!! ”

sack her and all the writers

I've stopped looking at the Talk Eastenders board or should that be the who's the fittest board.

It's all this nonsence that's posted like, I'll kill myself if they split up Shannis & Kalfie etc. That Zoe's a cow going after Dennis, Spencer is sooo fit etc etc etc...

After reading everyones views on Louise Berridge and the downward spiral that EastEnders is currently on, I thought I would post my opinion......

As I only started watching EastEnders reguarlarly in 2002, (and only watched every now and again for about 18months before that) I can't really comment on whether the standard of the programme has gone down since Lousie Berridge took over, but she must have done something right (at the begginning of her reign as Executive producer) as the stroylines and writing that she created, certainly got me to watch the show more regularly, And I do think that there have been some great storylines over the last two years such as Little Mo and Trevor and the Halloween fire, Kat and Alfies romance, Dirty Dens return, Barry/Janine/Paul Saga, and many more....(Well they kept me gripped anyway!!! )
But I cant deny that the standard of the show has gone down hill in the last few months (well since xmas really)......... However I dont feel that it has been this way for the last 2 years, since LB took over, and If they act quickly and take the right measures I think that it is not irreparable, and that EastEnders will slowly but surely get back on top form and will become worth watching again....You must admit that when EastEnders is good its really Good and far outshines other soaps.......I just hope that TPTB acknowledge that there is a problem and that action does need to be taken, instead of burying their heads in the sand and pretending to themselves that everything is OK....... xxx

Stop the madness!

Dirty Den rises from the dead? Shannis is off/on/off/on/off/on/on/on/off/off/off/on/off? Vicky? (I think that's all I need to say about that), Dan Fereira vanishes without trace?(well, just Dan Fereira generally), Michelle doesn't come back for her own brothers funeral? Sonia falls in love with the boy who got her pregnant, gave her no support and then killed her fiancee? Sam is a hard-nosed businesswoman? Alfie borrows money from Andy? Laura dies without revealing the real father? Dennis & Zoe's *affair* starts from two or three admiring looks - and that's it? The tedium of the kidney transplant saga? The even greater tedium of the Fereiras losing their house? Andy's infuriating intonation on every line he gets given? Spencer's two faces - smile & confusion/annoyance?
I could go on. How did EE get so poor so quickly? There are still brief moments of "proper" EE, but so much of it has been bogged down in poorly thought-out storylines, characters we don't care about and generally poor writing/acting.

One final thing - since when did every gangster in EE get their diploma in pop psychology? Dirty Den, Andy, Dennis - just about every scene they're in involves the line "and you need that", "No, you're wrong. I don't". "Yes you do, because it fills that gap in your life/makes you feel important/makes you feel a part of something/it's a substitute for real life".

I think Eastenders is crap and has been for a while. But for me it all started years ago anyway. I think it's been gradually getting worse since the original producers left and the show lost their creative vision.

I'd like to think it would improve if she stood down and gave someone else a chance. But really what are the chances?! And how responsible exactly is Louise Berridge? You can't make chocolate ice cream with shit and all that.

Very true, I remember that god awful episode of Alfie and the condom. I watched her name flash across the screen at the end of that episode and I thought to myself, "you just ruined the best soap on tv you silly cow" lol That will be her shining moment in EE history, that was at the height of her crappyness lol

John Yorke made the Trever/Mo storyline and that was his making, along with "Who Shot Phil" and some other good episodes.

All Louise has done has bought Den back but there is still time yet. I think EastEnders has hit a bit of a stale patch at the moment with Phil gone and we need the Mitchells back, especially Peggy along with Grant. I think EastEnders was best in its 1997-2001 days, the storylines were just superb then. I think that EastEnders is stil fantastic though.

Fair points. However, as Executive Producer Berridge is responsible for the state of Eastenders, whether it's to do with the writers, actors etc..... IMO

I know this thread has gone back on topic, thank you. I did however want to say that we do ask that you report posts which breach the forum Terms and Conditions rather than replying to them. Thanks.
