Anybody else think it was a bit unfair Nicky had to vote based on Robin's rules? |

I thought he was just tying to forstall all the flak he'd get for saving someone who 'fell' as most people seem to believe that a fall automatically means you should go. I think he always wanted to save Gary - he is a much stronger skater and had a load more skating content (only inside 3 I've seen all series tonight) so the ruling meant he could save who he wanted and didn't have to go with Daniella just because she didn't fall.

To be fair Nicky said he was only saving Gary cause the fall didn't count and if it did then he would of saved Danniella and it would of been a different story.
Whenever Nicky mentioned Robin chose this rule it was certain Robin would save Gary. Still Gary won't win cause he's been in the skate off twice already where as Hayley hasn't been in 1 skate off. And Kieron seems to have a large fanbase. |

Think it was a bit of a cop out by Nicky TBH. He has always marked gary highly & I think he wanted to save him anyway.

I had no doubt that the 'fall' was after the routine had finished and thought it was just excitement/relief from the pair of them, who maybe thought it was their last time skating as it was obvious that Jason and Emma would be saving Danniella whatever they did!!!!!
![]() Pleased they clarified the rules though - otherwise there may have been accusations flying around on here

I don't understand why Robin ruled as he did though - the routine didn't look finished to me before he fell. It was as he was finishing.

Nicky did say that Gary was getting his vote "by the skin of his teeth," which suggested that had the fall been taken into account it would have made his decision more difficult.
Robin's clarification of the rules was welcome - and not for a minute do I think it was intended to swing the vote Gary's way, although I sometimes wonder where all the enthusiasm for his skating comes from. He often looks decidedly wobbly to me - and looked anything but certain last night. I thought Daniella performed much better in the SO - and had her solo spot been more taxing the decision might have gone the other way. |

Robin is Head Judge and if he realised the fall came AFTER Gary finished his performance then that would be a totally fair decision. After all, he judged at The Olympics and therfore knows his stuff inside out.
What I did find fascinating last night was that the skaters on the panel chose to save Gary whilst those who don't understand the complexities of skating, and how very difficult it is, chose Daniella. I would always listen to a skating champion over a third-rate choreographer who hasn't worked in the industry for five years and a washed up singer who has past her sell-by date any day..

Talking from a neutral stance, I do think that this was a bit unfair. It was interesting to see how Robin discounted the ending position of Gary and Maria's routine when only a few weeks before we were guaranteed that they were important when it became a required element.
I can understand opinions on here saying that it was overexcitement/exhaustive/etc. but it was still a mistake in my opinion. The other argument is that it was after the routine because the music had finished. That would then imply that they didn't keep the pace of the routine up. Now this is a totally nautral opinion as I try to keep that on here and in the past, I would have kept in Gary over others but I do feel that I would have kept Danniella over Gary last night. |

Well for once I was with Jason who wanted to save Daniella to make the final entertaining.
Daniella was far more entertaining than Gary Yawn Lucy. She did some great routines. Gary is just a nice guy. Nothing wrong with that but he's done the same routine every week. And he's a fairly solid skater but that doesn't make it exciting. Danny should still be in for the same reason. |
