Anyone else thing its all becoming a big samey and repetitive every year. It needs a shake up, and all the changes need to happen on the ice. I don't mind Phil and Holly but honest to God their scripts could do with a bit of updating. In my opinion, and I suppose it will be considered ice blaspheny by some....T&D need to step back a bit ..... step back from the weekly number they do at the start (all very very samey and I really think they are starting to look too old for it) and make the pros much more of a force on the show. Let them choreograph routines.....INTERVIEW them for God's sake... they are an integral part of the show and they are always so sidelined.

Last night really annoyed me after Alexandra Burke had finished her song. Philip just introduced them as Alexandra Burke and our pro dancers. THEY HAVE NAMES !!!!!!!!!! just as much as Alexandra Burke has...... USE THEM. Again.... being marginalised and sidelined.

There has definitely been an air of mental fatigue for me looking at it this year...the spark has diminished, and a few well considered changes would light that spark again.

I'd like to see a guest choreographer week. Perhaps later in the series so that they have a few more skills to work with, but it would be interesting to see what someone else would come up with.
I'd also like to see a "dance style" week, so that each routine is choreographed to a particular recognised dance style as they do in the ice dance competitions. Hayley's Jai Ho routine was a move towards that and was very successful...I'd love to see them have a go at a Paso or maybe a tango.

I'd love to see a Single Ladies routine on the ice

Maybe also a Fight For This Love routine too

In all seriousness, i agree that the pros should have as much a part in the show as the celebs. Also, no manipulation and fair orders.

I think there needs to be a revamp........Last nights show was extremely mediocre. I may not be popular for saying this but I think some of the blame has to lie at the feet of Chris and Jayne, with a couple of notable exceptions there have been no stand out routines this series and the same old smaltzy smaltzy romantic routines every week..even the props were samey and dull with 3 of the 5 being a version of the same thing A STICK. Chris Dean is famed for his stand out routines but this year they have been dull and boring.

I also think that they have got themselves into such a routine of sameness that they are frightened to change.........In the final we must have flying !!!! why ?? it suits the girls but doesnt really do much for the boys and the 'holy cow' Bolero........why not ring the changes and have them try a different T & D routine like Barnum.

I totally agree with you Conchie. I'd like to see the props week go; it just seems so dated now. I'd like the dancers also to do a set routine as with Strictly ie a dance each week one week rhuma, next week fox trot on ice. I know it would be very difficult but those elaborate lifts are samey and I'd rather see 'proper' dance rather than cheesy gimmicky stuff. I suppose the argument would be though that it would take longer to get good enough to do those dances.

I also agree with you on Jayne and Chris, the dances look the same every week - they still look fit but ....

The flying is even more boring than prop week. I never bother to watch it.

You wouldn't necessarily have to do it every week but you could do a week of ballroom/latin dances. Doing it every week would make it look like 'Strictly On Ice'. Doing other dance styles like Bollywood would be a good idea.

The pros should be more involved especially if they're going to keep it at 14 couples, it's too much for two people to choreograph and it shows. Or why not get Nicky, Robin and Karen involved in the choreography?

Good post, they'd probably get even more accused of copying Strictly. It needs something to bring it to life a bit more. Agree with you on the pros. I'd like to see Barber and Slater be involved with Jayne and Chris on the choreography, good idea. I used to feel for that pair always being in Jayne and Chris' shadow during competitions so would be good to see how creative they could be.

They should cancel it after a time. After all, how many celebrities can possibly be that good after a certain time. I feel the same way about X Factor/American Idol and all the other guff my wife watches.

After a time it all just feels samy and nobody really stands out as outstanding - surely if anyone was THAT good, they would have made it off their own back by now.

Can the lot IMO.

I think they should have a guest judge each week OR a professional (possibly ex) Olympic Ice skating judge that would be interesting.

Swop partners 1/2 way through the series they are made to loose there partners and pick up fresh ones. This could represent different skating partners like in the skating world.

Have a studio audience vote. Combined with the judges and phone vote. Were always told how more "impressive" it is live so let the studio audience have a vote

Use pro's more we know there names, that's about it unless you read the website.

Bring back defrosted on ITV 2 in-between the main show and the skate off.

Also keep the show start at same time say 6.45 then only do 1 judge comment for first few weeks by time week 7 8 9 etc have come in get a comment off all panellists

Not all skaters are choreographers so it wouldn't be fair to put that burden on all the pros, but I agree we should see more of them. ITV treats the pros really badly but the audience love seeing them and Chris and Jayne love working with them, get them on more. Especially in the opening routines. The circus one at the start of the series was amazing. When they skate around singers the camera focuses on the gurning of the singer instead of the action on the ice.

Drop flying and like Jan2555*GG* says, maybe swap Bolero for another T&D routine.

Less celebrities next year. 14 is too many.

The Boleros are always an anti climax because they are trying to emulate something that was quite remarkable.

I think we can also do without T&D opening every show and just get on with the contest (with less interruptions for ads). Part of the problem is that each show has become such a long, drawn out process. They could be done in an hour tops each week if they wanted to.

I would also like to see rules in place which limit the amount and length of lifts so that everyone is forced to do more skating from the get go and the girls don't get away with being lifted off the ground for the bulk of their routines.

I liked the specialist choreographer being brought in for Jai Ho, maybe we could see more of that? More specialised dance styles would be welcome (really liked the idea of Danniella doing a Tango, for instance). And how about some fresh required elements?

All that together with less shouting from Philip would be great

Oh and a daily spin-off show so we can get to know the pros and couples better!

Maybe as a compromise, have the choreographing be a collaboration between T&D and the pros? Didn't Hayley and Daniel 'invent' a new lift for this week? And didn't Suzanne and Matt add in the 'twisty' thing to the headbanger for 'Music' in the final, which Jayne said she had never seen before? When it works, it works really well!

Whilst it might not be feasible to have a full-on pro-routine every week, how about using the pro-couples more? The group number they did to Boys and Girls was great, as what was seen of the routines to The Saturdays and to Alexandra Burke. Perhaps still have T&D do their opening number every week, but have a 'pro-spot' in the results show similar to what Strictly do - some weeks just a pair, some weeks 4 or 6, occasionally have them all out there?

And for heaven's sake, namecheck the pros! Last night to Alexandra we had the Matt and Frankie, and ......um...... Stuart or Lukasz? (speaking of which - if it was Lukasz then why was it not one of the pros that we have met as a competitor?) And it was one of the new female pros, right? (...um...Alexandra?)

Revamp DOI Friday - too much time is spent discussing stuff that is almost a week old; by Friday I imagine most viewers are more interested in what is coming next. Focus it more on a preview of the following week, and more behind the scenes stuff (the way ITT every Monday focused on a different aspect of the production in the 'behind the scenes on Saturday' segment).

Be more creative in props week. How many times has the hat been used? And, as others have said, this year there were 3 variations on a stick. What about a ball? A bucket? The table? A surfboard? The possibilities are endless!

Give the audience valium before and during the show.

The McCleans ad bumpers are awful. Change them!

Holly doesn't really get much to do; Phil introduces the couples, talks to them afterwards, and announces the results whereas Holly asks the judges what they though (which Phil could do from where he is) and speaks to Jayne & Chris briefly before the first skate-off. Mix it up a bit; alternate her and Phil around as to who speaks to the judges and who speaks to the couples after each routine.

Are John Sachs and Tony Gubba both necessary? Couldn't Gubba do the voice-over entries as well?

Does Gubba make up the names for the lifts or are there really names like 'The Teapot Lift'?

Would love to see a weekly musical guest, but if the budget is so low that they're recycling costumes without even trying to hide it, I suppose I'm happy with what we've got!

Perhaps they could just let them in early to watch Gary's dress rehersal...

I don't think the show itself has become more dull, it's just a case that we've all seen it now - been there and bought the T-shirt, so to speak.

I'd hate to see the show axed, but like SCD - and all similar shows - it does need a revamp to keep the interest alive.

I'd like to see the props dropped (Literally!) and replaced with (as someone suggested above) a week where they have to dance a set dance ... waltz, tango, cha cha etc., as they do in one round of "proper" skating competitions.

Jayne & Chris to relinquish some of their hold, and bring in new choreographers. Unfortunately I doubt if many of the pro skaters could necessarily choreograph routines, but a new approach is needed, and that would give J&D more time to spend on planning, so that we didn't get things like Hayley skating a slow number, wearing a boringly similar blue dress 2 weeks running!

YES YES YES whoever said so above - DITCH THE B****Y flying - it's boring, and nothing to do with dancing ON ICE; and while you're about it, ditch the boring Bolero!

Karen Barber to stop being both trainer and judge! She should be one or the other.

Replace the likes of Alexandra Burke as guest (nothing against AB, in fact I really like her), but the studio acoustics do nothing for singers, and it would be much nicer (imo) to bring in guest skaters - there are plenty of really good pro couples, to say nothing of competitive skaters, who would be good to watch.

And please stop dressing Holly as if she is about to go to a high school prom!!!

no idea - whe didn't seem noticeably out of sync with the music (like Cheryl at the Brits); and he was just standing in one position singing - no energetic dance routine to deliver.

I thought she was live, although I haven't heard the song before so have no idea what it should sound like.

Totally agree with this. It's something that really annoys me - especially as she's only trainer to some of the contestants. It's inevitable that that has the potential to bias some of her judgements, even if she tries not to let it. It makes no more sense to have her on the panel than it would to have Jayne and Chris there.

I'd like to see Chris and Jayne mark the contestants, only they can mark without being biased by whether they like the choreography or not.

That's a good idea Mandy, have someone else do the choreography and J&T mark. They also know what to look for, as well as Karen and Nicky and Robin in the performances. Mix it up a bit - alternate weeks. I don't at all see the point of Emma Bunton on that panel but that's been done to death !

Nothing to suggest it wasn't live, I thought she did a great job.
