I can't stand her, don't see the hype what so ever. I hope she fades into the background.

Strange then that she has a co-writing credit on a Veronicas single from 2007. Also a Miley Cyrus album track from earlier in 2009.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXbgJoeeeJc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqpjxOV4F4c Nothing to write home about, but it doesn't seem like the typical trajectory of your average pop moppet does it. I'd be smelling a rat right about now and guessing she's somebody's protege, choosing to step out front of stage. Here's a profile that ran in the Sunday Times a few weeks ago. http://entertainment.timesonline.co....cle7048552.ece |

She's not a great singer but I don't think she tries to be. She's a trashy, messy, punk chick with catchy pop songs with meaningless lyrics. Her songs aren't really "singing" songs anyway, they're mostly talking, rapping and beats. Could you imagine anyone singing Blah Blah Blah well? It's so trashy and over the top, but yet catchy and infectious at the same time!

I was just thinking about this today because I have one of her songs on her Ipod that I like the tune of, but I was saying to myself that her singing voice really isn't that great, she does so much talking-in-time type singing.

Que?? Heard the single??Thats exactly how it sounds. My issue is that I think shes miming here and shes slagged Britney off publicly for miming. I agree that its wrong, but dont bitch about other people doing it, when youre at it yourself!

The actual version is auto-tuned, vocoder etc to death, so I'd say she's giving it some personality live, she isn't singing out of tune because she can't she's just not singing it the way it is on the album/single etc
It was pretty lively, her songs aren't really ones to be sung if you're trying to show off impressive vocals |

That was certainly a terrible performance in terms of live vocals. But her singles are auto-tuned beyond belief so I expected it.

I like Tik Tok and Blah Blah Blah because they're shamefully catchy and fun to sing, but I saw her on T4 not so long ago doing all her songs from her album, and she sounded bloody awful. Truly..awful.
She was just shouting/talking. It's only because her tracks are soooo heavily reliant on autotune that her singing live sounds absolutely NOTHING like her songs on her album. I'm also not really a fan of her personality either. She came across as really weird in the interview. Just quoting lines from her songs and not really answering any of the question. She might just have been nervous though. Or on a come down. |

Watched her MTV Live show and she was alright, can't recall her proclaiming herself to be the new Whitney Houston so don't get the grief about her music style.
Her Mother is a songwriter and has been in the music industry a while a TV report said, natural for her daughter to follow - can't see any conspiracy here. |

I saw this too and had to turn it off. She was trying to act weird on purpose and it was really obvious. While I think a few of the songs are catchy enough, I think she'll just be a flash in the pan. Surely no one could listen to that voice for any length of time?

I've paid her no attention at all. I just find her boring. Nothing special in the slightest.

I like her to the extent that she's something slightly different from many pop singers but don't think she's a great singer or is claiming to be either.
I saw her in an interview and thought she came over as fine but she got kinda precious when the interview praised her as a good writer of pop songs, as if she doesn't believe this is pop music. |

She does seem to be striving to be terribly, contrivedly 'edgy'. What's this posturing nonsense about "brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack"... if she contracts oral cancer, then she'll have to stick in her pipe and smoke it.
