Suzanne "DOI Judges arguing can be annoying"

From DS News
Suzanne Shaw has claimed that the Dancing On Ice judges' constant disagreements can be "annoying".

The singer and actress, who will join the cast of Emmerdale next week, said that having five panellists sometimes means that they can over-shadow the celebrity skaters.

"When you have a panel of people who never agree with each other, it just becomes about them arguing and it gets annoying," she told DS.

"You just think, 'You know what guys? It's not about you...' I think that's why X Factor works so well, because you get to hear [all the judges'] opinions."

Speaking about Emma Bunton's stint on the panel, Shaw said that the former Spice Girl needed another year on the show to "come into her own".

"There was one week when I thought, 'Go on, Emma', because I really agreed with her. But there's been other times when she's been saying things like, 'Phwoar, get your top off'," added the 2008 series champion.

"It's one of those things where if you're not used to the judging system, you need a few weeks to get into it. If she's on the show next year, that's when she'll come into her own because she has started to. It was a hard one at first. When you're a skater and somebody comes in who's a non-skater, you do think, 'What do you know?'"

They were interviewing her for Emmerdale and asked her about DOI. I pretty much agree with everything there. I think in particular Nicky and Jason like to hog the limelight a bit. I think that the less judges and hearing from all of them angle mentioned could be a runner. Also I think the last line is just a general comment and feeling most people have rather than Suzannes own feelings.

Yeah I saw this on the news bit, they were interviewing her for Emmerdale and naturally asked her about DOI. The judges seem to be a lot worse this year than they have been in the past. There is alot of sniping this year between themselves, the atmosphere has been a bit bad and some of the things they say like Jasons comment to sharron have overshadowed everthing. I do agree with her that Emma is getting better but she is still poor, I can understand the argument that it's hard for her though. I also think the idea of less judges and letting them all have a say other than just hearing from Jason all the time or having them interupt eachother is an interesting idea.

I tend to agree with Suzanne. It is much worse this year, particularly between Jason and Nicky. He seems to be miffed that Jason gets all the publicity and wants some for himself!

Did you see DOI Friday this last week? Nicky and Robin were demonstrating what Jason does when Holly goes to the judges for their comments. Jason apparently does his best to prevent Nicky from speaking at all, which is presumably why Nicky is trying so hard to get noticed.

I've supported Jason up until this year because if you ignore the manner of his feedback and look at the substance, he usually makes good points and those who take on board what he says tend to improve. However, he was completely out of control this year and went way too far. He's also unprofessional, spouting off about the other judges and disparaging contestants in the press and on twitter. I felt last year that he was completely fed up with DOI and didn't really want to be there - he probably just didn't have any better offers - and I've felt that even more strongly this year. If he can't do his job and at least fake enthusiasm, then perhaps he should step aside and let someone who actually wants to be there do the job.

I agree it's time to go down to three judges, so that there would be time for all of them to comment after every performance. I'd definitely keep Robin. And any two of Nicky, Jason and Karen (although if they keep Jason, then I can't help but feel they have to keep Karen because those two balance each other out a bit) or, even though she hasn't been a judge before, Anita Harris, who is both an accomplished skater and a good dancer/singer/actress/all-round-performer. I also wouldn't mind seeing Steven Cousins on the judges' panel.
