Oh yes I forgot Adrian. Loved him when he did his short with the counter balance spread and shot the judges last year. He is now mad boy in our house due to his fab programme with fab music and straightjacket costume.

Loved Fernandez and Amodio and Kevin Reynolds and also Ryan Bradley's whose long programme made us laugh so much - so foppish!”

Thanks for that link!

I think Fernandez, Schultheiss and Amodio are probably my 3 favourites in men's skating at the moment, now that Lambiel's gone. Can't really take to the big guns, but those three younger ones I really love

Just a reminder that the BBC coverage starts today at 1pm (BBC 1).

Am I alone in finding a brother-sister partnership vaguely 'icky'?

I agree too, my favourites Aliona and Robin were just beautiful and should have won.

The Germans did not do well in the short though, especially compared to the Chinese. They outperformed them in the long, but that's how these things work.

Anyway I'm glad I'm not relying on the BBC for coverage. Showing five from the ice dance and only one from the men's? Also Robin's commentary has gone back to being boring.

Yes! I get what CombatHamster means about the short programme, but I thought the differences in quality for the final dance were FAR greater than was reflected by the marks: the Chinese were all over the place in terms of timing. They were also totally emotionless...

The Kerrs did well. ”

It was interesting what Robin said (BBC highlights) about the rules for ice dance being about to change to go with the direction it's taken recently -- "aesthetically really pushing and pleasing" -- and his seeing Davis & White and Virtue & Moir as part of that.

(Unfortunately, the only change I can specifically remember is getting rid of the compulsory dance, which would allow couples to concentrate more on the remainging two.)

However, I thought his comments on Davis & White's free dance (which were different from the sorts of things he said about it in the Olympics) were setting up to justify Virtue & Moir's win.

And Sue Barker was annoying in her excessive praise for Virtue & Moir, saying they'd been in a league of their own in the Olympics and that they were head and shoulders above everyone else in the worlds -- even though they'd just come 2nd in the free.

Much as I like Virtue & Moir, and have no problem with them winning gold in the Olympics and the Worlds, I find that sort of thing irritating.
