Wider options in the final

Does anyone else agree it would be great if the contestants had a choice of iconic Torvill and Dean routines, rather than having to do Bolero? I'd love them to have a choice of say:

Bolero
1984 Paso Doble
1994 Rumba
Mack and Mabel
Barnum
Diablo Tango

Just picking a few at random as I'm not that familiar with most of their pro routines. But it seems to me a bit unfair that they all have to do Bolero, when some are less suited to that style of routine. It would be nice if the very last routine of the winner and runner up was one that was perfectly suited to each of their strengths. Also after so many series it's getting a bit tired in my opinion!

I would love them to be given one of T&D's other routines to have a go at, I am a bit fed up with Bolero as well!

I'd rather they just sacked doing any of T and D's routines lol.

It would be great if they could do a showskate (although I'm aware not all pros are choreographers). However, it would give us some more interesting things to look at.

Good idea! My favourite has always been Barnum though I like Mack and Mabel too. Bolero never grabbed me quite as much really and I think it was very much of its time and suited their style.

I suppose it might be more difficult to judge, say, a Bolero against a Barnum though as they are so different.

I am heartily sick of Bolero, and so any variations there would be welcome.

The DOI final is kinda rubbish. It's just flying, some routines we've already seen before, and Bolero.

Must admit - I HATE the flying (totally pointless IMHO and definitely favours the women with dance training - Bonnie had been playing Peter Pan and lots of flying in panto for years and had no trouble whatsoever with it so totally unfair on the other 2 that year...)

Get them to choreograph their own routine which incorporates ALL the required elements from the series in the final instead of the flying - just to check that they have mastered them all, and marks deducted if they don't do them or mess them up!

And yes - I'm tired of Bolero too - lets have one of the other routines for a change - or even one from their pro days.......

I agree with everyone else, Bolero is getting a bit tired now.
Let's have a change.

Yeah, I agree. Let them play to their strengths. I'd love to see a finalist with a flair for comedy do Diablo Tango. It would lighten the mood of the final.

the paso doble was just the short set programme the year they won with bolero

I've always thought this too! I always felt it was a bit unfair for instance that Chris Fountain had to skate the bolero up against Suzanne because it really wasn't his sort of routine at all. I'm not saying it cost him the win because Suzanne played a blinder on the whole final but it did put him at a disadvantage. The same goes being up against Ray on the tour. Ray is a natural at a bolero-type routine.

The flying can put people at a disadvantage too but the bolero is getting particularly tiresome. I feel they overdo it sometimes on the T&D celebration aspect of this show. They aren't the only decent skaters in the world.
