How the hell does Caroline Quintin get work?
I'm having to endure the God awful girly-girly, man is bad "Life of Reily" which is as funny as a pulled chest muscle and a few things I want to say are:
a) How does Ms Quintin get work? Is she very rich or does she have something on the top bosses at the BBC/ITV? b) WHY is this commisioned? "Pulling", "Little Miss Joycelyn" and the decentish "TittyTittyBangBang" were cancelled to allow this? At least those were hilarious and show women can beat men at comedy. This is awful! |

Pulling and the other shows you mention were on BBC3 and so not axed to make way for Life of Riley.
If you find it so god-awful don't watch it! Also, I find Caroline Quentin to be great at what she does. Both comedy and drama. |

I think she does comedy rather well - she made me laugh in Kiss Me Kate and in Jonathon Creek (she and Alan Davies had great chemistry) and now in Life of Riley.

she was also good on footprints in the snow where she was wheelchair bounded |

Seems a little harsh to single her out, rather than point towards the fact that it's the writing that's not up to scratch. (Unless I'm missreading the end roller; she's got nothing to do with the script.)
Is everyone else in the cast turning in a BAFTA winning performance? I also enjoyed her work in Jonathan Creek and Footprints in the Snow, but not a fan of the current sitcom. Everyone works on at least one turkey... that seems to be the law of averages. |

I agree with the above poster, in that I loved Life Begins, was one of my fave shows at the time - I really looked forward to it every week.
I do agree however that Life Of Reiley is bluddy awful - just formulaic (if that's the right word) BBC comedy, much like My Family (which I also think is total crapola) They're probly just trying to copy that - making tosh that's harmless enough - only trouble is it forgets to be funny! |

I think Caroline Quentin is OK, she gets paid to make Life of Riley, even if it is really bad. She has been really good in a few other series. |

Life Of Riley makes My Family seem like side-splitting stuff by comparison.
It sucks on every level. |

I agree. Caroline Quentin is up there with Victoria Wood and Sue Perkins. Not funny and just generally annoying. Life of Riley is absolute s**te - just as bad as My Family.

I don't like her that much either, but that's neither her fault nor my business ultimately. I think broadcasting's just one of those 'it depends who you know' worlds, probably a lot of people floating about because they're good company in the canteen or they have a friend of a friend in production. Then they draw in more of their friends and so on.

I don't get the idea of starting a topic on an actress you don't like just to be bloody negative.
Some people need to get a life. Fair enough, I haven't seen the particular sitcom and it doesn't look very good. But to say CQ isn't a great actress is just ridiculous. Some people are just bitter. |

I like Caroline Quentin. I enjoyed her in that cop show and the series she was in a couple or so years ago, where her husband left her and the kids and she got a job in a travel agent, was hilarious. However The Life of Reilly is abysmal.

Not sure. She's one of the dullest actors around.

I think she must have a lot of incriminating photos of the commissioning editors at BBC and ITV in compromising positions. Its the only explanation i can think of.

The show The Life of Reilly is simply too messy and they are trying to make it too much like My Family which i loved. I tried to watch it again last night but quite frankly it was just weird I mean the chase with the policeman and the gran on the mobility scooter was cr*p and embarrassing to watch. The BBC seem to be struggling with comedy at the moment the other vile load of rubbish was the circus one that stunk too. |
