2 contestants to pull out
persian

This has been mentioned over on the GBBF but I have also heard the news, 2 BB contestants have pulled out because of the Asylum seeker going in, they dont think its fair that an aslylum seeker should be allowed a chance of winning big money when they are not actually British citizans, this was broadcast on Capital Radio this morning and should be in the national press tomorrow.

Complete rubbish, when they won't have selected the final housemates due to rumours yet. And anyway, the contestants would already be in isolation away from the Big Brother rumours, so would be unable to know that an asylum seeker is 'entering' the house. Don't they always select the final housemates about a few days before going in? It's incase a housemate gets cold feet etc.

Good. If they're going to react in that sort of way to a potential housemate who's passed through all the same auditions as them but just happens to not be a british citizen then personally I'm glad they're not going to be on the show.

Although I think this is just a load of rumour rubbish, I couldn't agree more. Where does it state that contestants have to be British, and what a sad thing to feel if it is true.

maybe you dont have to be British but asylum seekers already get more than British people get most of the time so why should they be allowed to take part in our show with the potential of winning 70k? and before anyone gets on their high horse this is not a racist thing its a fact, they get an easy life when they decide to nip over here for a bit of luxury and of course they get it, how many contestants would have been turned down for the show? if the rumours are true and there is one going in the only reason he/she will have been chosen is for publicity purposes and to cause arguments amongt the house mates.

Life of luxury on about £60 of benefits a week???? Really???

All asylum seekers are here legally until their case has been assessed and they are either invited to stay or given time to leave. The law has been drawn up in such a manner that it is extremely difficult for asylim seelers to remain in the UK.

But the sad thing is, the modern tabloids name every person who has entered Britain legally or illegally in the last few years 'an asylum seeker.' Whats to say that this man actually had a reason to leave his country? We don't know - Big Brother shouldn't be about what the housemates do on the outside, it should be about what they do on the inside.

This story is a load of old rubbish. Endemol & C4 are leaking something to the press each and every day. They want the news coverage for BB5 that this sort of nonsense will inevitably bring, particularly at a time when there's a strong debate going on in the UK regarding whether or not we are going to meet our international obligations on the issue of asylum seekers.

I do not believe, that having got so far in the BB5 selection procedure, contestants would turn down the opportunity of appearing on the show.

How the h**l does anyone know who is and isn't going in the house.

OK maybe and repeat just maybe some of the last 40 or so have expressed displeasure at the idea of the potential asylum seeker, but on previous history I doubt anyone with a serious chance of getting in the house would pull out of the chance of doing so just because of a verty iffy rumour.

I guess they have to hype it up somehow to make sure they win back all the viewers they lost last year on BB4.

With all the reaction its getting by them 'leaking' little bits like this, is obviously working

For someone who can't even spell his/her own location, your opinion is very wrong. I disagree with asylum seekers coming here, just to leech money from the Government and lounge around doing nothing. There are some real asylum seekers who have come here from their country with no knowledge about whether their family alive or dead and work all of the time to gain money to live here as a normal person.

The bad reputation for asylum seekers shouldn't be brought down upon those who are in the country to escape the conflict in their own. Surely, if England was in the turmoil that countries such as Afghanistan were in - if you tried to leave to go to an economically stable country like America or Australia, would you feel welcome with everybody treating you like you don't belong?

...and the rumours always seem to happen just before the start?!

How desperately sad - just in case everyone forgets to watch it!!!

And it's FREE !!! more cost affective to "leak" something contraverial then deny all knolledge!!!

And the paper are just as bad for "running" with something they know ain't true, but it will sell their newspapers

I haven't got my gibberish translator to hand, but I think you said that if you went there, you'd get 45 nicker to live on. Where's there?

This seems like xenophobia of the highest degree. I think this is quite blatantly newspaper-talk, and it doesn't deserve our time to discuss it, surely?!

I don't think people who are living off the state have a right to complain about what asylum do or do not get. You are lucky enough to be born in a country where the state provides for people, some genuine asylum seekers weren't.

Good riddance to the two if this story is true.....Big Bro is well rid of them...I just wish they'd tighten up their screening process to keep people like that off their final lists in the first place.....

Whoever from wherever as long as they entertain!

I doubt the story has much truth to it, as has been said, I can't see anyone giving up their chance to get into the house after getting so close.

As for whether an asylum seeker should be in the BB house, I personally don't have a problem with it, but I fear that if they are genuinely seeking asylum from another countries atrocities, locking them up with with a possible Jade or Cameron is simply cruel!

I think BB is leaking red herrings to create a buzz around the series, God knows they need it after last year!
