Cover Version Murder...
What songs do you love that have been covered, and murdered? Mine would have to be my favourite song ever, So Small by Carrie Underwood being murdered by bloody Italo Brothers (a German dance act)!

All Saints - Under the Bridge. This is a totally different genre that ruined the song. |

Totally disagree.
All Saints - Under the Bridge. This is a totally different genre that ruined the song. Limp Bizkit's version of George Michael's "Faith" is quite hilarious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7CHH6yShbs |

Not to mention they took out the final verse, which is basically the whole point of the song, and turned it into some kind of horrible lovey dovey ballad. Needless to say, the Chilli Peppers weren't impressed in the slightest.

I loved Limp Bizkit's version of Faith as a kid!
![]() ![]() U2 absolutely killed Lou Reed's Satalite of Love...I like U2 but they should've left that wonderful classic alone! |

It's always an odd question this, because the covers that are the most cynical are just the near straight copies, generally by boy/girl-bands or Reality TV contestant, but they're generally too bland to hate. At least if they change the genres, it shows a bit of creativity.
Mind you, despite saying that, my two least faves, Flipping horror and Spiceless hell

I Have A Dream. The original ABBA version was perfect and really means something to me. The Westlife version...not so much. I like a lot of the stuff Westlife released around that time, but I Have A Dream just made a gorgeous, uplifting song (in my opinion) completely and utterly bland and emotionless.
I can't think of any others I feel that strongly about, although there are so many awful covers from so many different artists.

Every Cover that Rolf Harris has done.
Stairway To Heaven, Bohemian Rhapsody... and others I believe. How can you get more murdered than Rolf Harris and his bloody piece of cardboard. |

Massive Attack - Teardrop - Covered by Newton Faulkner. Eugh. Just Eugh!!
Radiohead - Just - Covered by Mark Ronson and... that guy. It's not terrible, but it's annoying enough to get a mention. Tracy Chapman - Baby Can I Hold You - Covered by Boyzone and made into that annoying boyband ballad sound. Snow Patrol - Run - Covered by Leona Lewis. Another EUGH! Perhaps all the X-Factor covers can be included here! |

erm... they were deliberate, it was humour, and imho his rendition of 'stairway to heaven' completely crapped over all those pretencious people who worship that track (good though it is)
Sheesh why take it all so seriously. |

All Saints - Under the Bridge. This is a totally different genre that ruined the song. I hate most punk covers of pop songs, especially the ones on the Pop Goes Punk albums. My least favourite cover is probably Britney's I love rock n roll. |

Possibly all covers of Don't Stop Believin'
![]() Florence and The Machine's cover of Beyonce's Halo *shudders* Simon Cowell got The X Factor 09 lot to cover a Michael Jackson song, think it was You Are Not Alone...but whichever song it was, it was horrible. ![]() ![]() Fall Out Boy's cover of MJ's Beat It.. ![]() In contrast- one cover I expected to be a murder, but wasn't, was Kids In Glass Houses (think it was them) covering Marina and the Diamonds' Hollywood on Radio 1's Live Lounge yesterday. Bloody loved it, much to my surprise
